out of the blue my wife started to ask me about my feeling about the borg.

i told her i didn't want to talk about it...she persisted.

she already knows how i feel, i told her that my biggest beef is that they use mind control, and yep she went in to how i was an apostate and how she doesn't want to be married to an apostate.

So sorry you are going through this...I have been experiencing the joy of cult life with my spouse as well, he has shunned me, yelled at me, talked to elders about me, threw away my Captives of a Concept book, etc. I stopped going in June (i was never a jw, was unbaptized publisher, married to a born in who was inactive when we met and married just went back in uber dub mode about 2 years ago) it is ridiculous what this religion does to family and the mind control is mind boggling to me.

Hang in there. Go do fun stuff with your kids, if your wife tries talking about the religion anymore just bow out. Tell her you will no longer be discussing anything related to jws with her anymore. And then dont. If she continues being erratic determine if you can live with that.

What I Saw & Heard in the Oral Argument Hearing on January 14, 2015

im not an attorney and i could not record the hearing, so please forgive me if i make mistakes in relating what i remember of the oral argument hearing for jane doe (i.e., candace conti) versus the watchtower bible & tract society on january 14, 2015 and the length of this post.. i arrived at the civic center/union plaza in san francisco, ca about 7:30. the area is very nice with a few homeless people sleeping in the park across from the courthouse.

it took me about 10 minutes to find the clerks office for the court on the first floor, which opened at 8:00.. once the clerks office opened, the two clerks who i talked with were very polite and helpful.

the arguments for jane doe (i.e., candace conti) versus the watchtower bible & tract society were scheduled 5th out of (i think) 8. while i was in the office a cameraman and another person for nbc arrived asking about the hearing for candace contis case.. the courtroom for the 1st appellate court is on the 4th floor and takes up most of that floor.

Reading those court documents makes me angry, and sick. The wtbts is disgusting.

Rasputin and Serums and Herbs--Oh My!

i have written a blog post about the dubs and their scorn of modern medicine and rasputin, while simultaneously touting unproven, dangerous cures.. i wonder what it is about a fake remedy that makes jws believe in it or scorn it?.

You misunderstood what I was saying. Diet is important for prevention...and treatment in some instances....Such a as diabetes for example. You have to pay attention to what you put in your body. You can prevent diabetes in many cases by a healthy lifestyle....but once you have diabetes a combo of healthy lifestyle & medical treatment can help you manage.

And with my spine issues, medical marijuana can help control pain without all the side effects of the 7 prescriptions I now take. Also, massage and such helps. But I would still need procedures through modern medical practice...and even modern medical doctors have suggested alternative treatments. Balance.

I believe balance between both modern medicine and homeopathic/dietary methods for true health.

There are many ways we can all care for ourselves...and what we eat is huge. I believe this is step one. Diet has been linked to cancer, headaches, diabetes, heart health, etc. Obesity is a plague of its own. We tax smokers, increase health care costs, etc. But no action has been taken that I'm aware of to do the same for morbid obesity. Although similiar health risks are involved.

Modern medicine has brought to light some amazing medical interventions, surgeries, technologies, medicines, etc. I have had my experience with modern medicine event though I am in relatively excellent health.

I am 35, and have spinal issues that I take 7 medications for multiple times each day. These medicines have some scary long term use side effects, from liver disease to....just not something I am looking forward to. If I lived in a state with medicinal marijuana I could likely stop taking every single one of these pills and have less side effects.

On the other hand, surgical and other procedures have helped significantly.

As with everything, there must be balance.

Since April...facing major surgery as an unbaptized publisher, I was shocked and horrified by the aggressive indoctrination they rushed me into into regarding blood transfusions. They tried to get me a blood card, and brought the blood video to my house, which we proceeded to watch while eating popcorn.

There had already been major wtf moments prior to this, such as false prophesies, 1914 and the "invisible rule" but the whole biased blood video pissed me off. I made arrangements for my sister to be my poa and wrote specific instructions that I would accept blood.

I also came across an article about Candice conti. That led me to research more and I found this site.

I have found the advice and experiences of others here to be so helpful. Though I am no longer attending meetings, my child is being made to attend by my uber dub husband, but he has allowed her to stop studying and negotiated that she only has to do field service a few times a month. She is completely anti-jw and hates going to meetings.

one lawyer said he has over 28 cases in the pipeline that are going to be coming out soon.

on december 1 st a new one just popped up.

i almost wonder if some awakened, still-in, from this site is part of the writing department or illustrations and put that in there as an inside joke for us?.
