let's talk about this.. i have lots of friends on this board.
so..........can we still be friends, if i disagree with you?
Mulan:
I guess you can say that it is a sign of maturity to agree to disagree. But when the subject is very important, sometimes you must go the extra mile to "fight" for what you believe.
Case in point: My Ashi was over this past weekend. We had a heated discussion about something that I won't go into on this board, but, since we are both very "vocal" we like to try to prove our points in a very loud, but controlled way. Well, we didn't end up agreeing, but that's still OK. People can have different opinions on things, as long as they don't take out an eye in the process. I still have both of my eyes, and last time I looked, Ashi had both of his.
well, i have been checking this board for a few days and love reading the comments.
i remember starting going to the meetings when i was 5 and continued till i stopped going to the meetings about 10 yrs ago......total of 25 yrs to the meetings.
i remember as a kid not being able to celebrate birthdays or stuff like that and wearing our dresses up to our knees....that was awful.
Hi and Welcome to the board fairy,
You will find this forum a good place to vent and heal. It seems you have had a hard time with the judgemental witnesses. That is not a trait exclusive only to the witnesses. But, I know it must hurt to think you belong to an organization that should be showing the qualities of God, and they do exactly the opposite.
Hope you stay awhile and have some funBut, be careful, this place has been known to be addictive.

.
when a witness is leading a double life, are they really leaning toward not believing in the "truth" and just staying in for family and friends sake or do they really believe it is the "truth" but just want to have a little fun?.
i have a friend who says he is "in" just because he goes to meetings of sundays, however during the week you would not believe it if he told you he was a witness.. just curious..
Our family has seen many families that lead a double life. Especially the JW teenagers. Trying to please their parents, but having "worldly" friends and wanting to be normal.
One example: One prominent elder is very respected in our area with a very loving family, and very faithful to Jehovah. Well, this elder's perfect children entered a pumpkin carving/painting contest sponsored by a local business. It happens that they did such a good job painting their evil holiday pumpkins that they won 2nd prize! I bet they donated their tainted profits from the halloween pumpkin carving contest to the WorldWide Preaching Work!

hi there..im new to the board.
i am a coptic orthodox christian right now, and i am good friends with a witness.
unfortunately, i didnt know enough about my own religion before i started listening to my friend and i am starting to question my faith.
Hi Cyre:
When you become a Jehovah's Witness you are entering a business arrangement. You will be asked 2 questions upon being baptized that the JW religion will hold against you if you ever decide to leave the religion. Ask your friend about these 2 questions and about what they will mean to your entire life if you decide to leave. Unlike other religions, the Jehovah's Witnesses do not LET you leave just because YOU want to. Remember, this is a business arrangement between the WTBS and you. If you break that contract with them, your life will become a living hell. They do not like it when their members disagree with them, or decide to leave.
You need to ask your friend alot more questions about disfellowshipping, shunning, marking, and how families are torn apart by this publishing company who hides behind the guise of a religion. BE INFORMED, before you make a decision that will affect the rest of your life and those you love.
Take Care.
Mrs. Shakita
well, can you believe it, it has been a year since i timidly joined this forum!
(yes me, i was very timid at first!
i came looking to see if anyone else had the same experience as me in finding out that the wtbts is just another manmade organization with dangling carrots and big sticks.
Hi Joy:
We have never talked. But you and your husband's posts have been a tremendous help to us when we were lurking here on this board. My husband also had the opportunity to speak with your husband on the phone at a time when he really needed support and encouragement. Never underestimate how much the both of you, as well as the others on this board, help the lurkers here who are questioning the WTBS. Those who are helped here, will take what they learn, and tell others. It will help entire families come out of the WTBS. We wish you and your family all the best life has to give.
Take care.
Mrs. Shakita
check.
and tell me what you think the hand is holding.
some may say it is holding a bat.. hmmmmm....... never seen a bat held that way.. carlo
Where do you see a bat?
Looks like the hand (God's hand??) is holding a tissue to me. Kind of appropriate. God should be crying for forgiveness for not answering all of mankind's prayers in the past umteen thousand years! Sorry, feeling mad at the "Almighty" today.
i have been out of the religion for over six years now.
in doing so, i think i have made my own share of mistakes and done my own measure of personal growth.
what i was wondering though, if you were to tell someone who just left the religion the most important mistakes not to repeat, and the most important goals to strive for.
Kenpo:
Thank you for this post. I am fairly new out with alot of conflicting feelings sometimes. I had contact with many congregations thoughout the 25 years of being associated with the witnesses. Our family made many friends during that time. Friends that we continue to bump into in our community. It seems like a endless struggle to keep your integrity and not go back to a life that you know is a lie. This is especially difficult when you have family members still in who you love very much.
Prisca:
So many good points you brought out. The one about expecting to know all the answers to everything...........I think I am coming to realize that I don't have to have all the answers-all the time. In accepting this, I think I will have more peace of mind. And, since we are just fading at this point, I think this will help with the turmoil of all the conflicting feelings over leaving.
We have just, over the last few years, have started saving for our retirement. We always put our trust in the organization's lie that the new system would be here before we would need any kind of retirement money. Hah!!!!! While we put our faith in this hooky excuse of a religion, God's publishing company was getting filthy rich!!!!
Thank you again Kenpo for your very thoughtful posts. Have a nice day!

this news report is showing on channel nine here this evening.
summer is still a long way off, yet the bush-fire season has started here.
the drought continues with no rain forecast till next year.
Hi Ozzie:
Here in New Jersey in the good ole USA the weather is as follows:
Presently we are at 50 degrees with a low overnight of 42 degrees.
Tomorrow will be party cloudy, oops, I forgot what the temperature was, but it will be around approximately 53 degrees.
We have a national weather service alert at this time for a possible overnight frost. Very important to cover all delicate flowers and vegetables.
We have been in a drought status here too, no washing cars, limited watering of lawns, etc... But, lately we have had alot of rain in NJ, so I think they have let up on the restrictions alittle. I'll have to check that out and get back to you.
Sorry to hear of the situation in your neck of the woods. Hope some of our rain comes your way!
the decline of the jws has been discussed before in bits and pieces.
i thought i would summarize some of the "signs of the times".
1. there is been no growth in 24 internet connected countries.
This must be "THE GOOD NEWS" the bible was speaking about.
