American Sniper - courage or cowardice?

the movie american sniper is breaking box office records and of course there is some irony that a movie about a sniper is released on martin luther king day (who was shot by one).. but of course there is a world of difference between an assassin and a military sniper ... or is there?.

some are making a big stink about it and claiming that "snipers are cowards".

it seems unfair to me.

A sniper is somebody who is streets ahead of the rest in marksmanship. A terrorist ,on the other hand, is a fanatic ,who is equally willing to die or kill unless he gets what he wants. Beheading innocent journalists or Japanese .nationals unless somebody forks over 200 million, is absolutely kosher ;as is rape and slaughter of millions of innocents. They are well armed and can ifiltrate countries at will.

Sniping is a tactic that allows defenders to combat a fanatical enemy effectively on the battlefield and around it. So how does fat mouth Moore, a moronically wet under-the-arms inspired idiot, , try to psyco-equate a person's ability with a weapon to an emotional issue? What are you really trying to say Mr. Moore? ? Every sniper is a coward or every coward is a sniper? Here's a scenario for your fat -headed wizardry. Your dum' fat ass is twisting under a fanatics knife where he is ripe n ready to behead you- unless your family slips him a few from the mllions you've made. A marksman with a sniping rifle has the knife weilder in his sights; say from 880 meters away. You know it . You've gotta wink to let the sniper know you want him to take the axman out. Now comes a double-edged ,heavy-lidded moral deliema for you Moore. Whatch ya gonna do? Are ya gonna ask a 'coward' to save your courageous dum' ass or forego the wink for a slice of dubious psychoanalysis? My money's on the wink!! A second bet that you call him a hero after!!! Wanna play?

we all know the calculations used by the wt to arrive at 1914. fall of babylon in 607 (false year), gentile times, no zero year, ta-da, 1914.. what did they use before that?

i know it wasn't russell who came up with it - he just adopted it.

i'm just curious what they had to explain away when they made the transition.. .

Your favourite dog breed ...?

in an earlier thread, i mentioned that i wasn't a particularly doggy person but that my parents got a husky last year that i've come to regard as a kind of brother.. huskies superficially resemble wolves and for me it's been fun to compare and contrast husky and wolf behaviour.

huskies howl but rarely bark, and seem to have a strong prey drive and a strong pack instinct - a nod to their wild cousins.

this is why i love huskies, i think.. do you have a favourite dog breed and why?.

The idea of a personal god is an anthema to the fear o death. JW's believe they are the only ones who will live on after death. As long as you have people believing that kind of horseshit, you will have bully religions like he JW's. Period. i was thinking about how so many posters here on jwn are frustrated and frantic to help their loved ones get away from the brainwashing of jws, and how much advice is given about how to help family members and loved ones.

i considered my own leaving and that it was internal turmoil based on the teachings getting weirder and child abuse issues, to name just a few, and it made me wonder:.

did you self-awaken or were you assisted by the gentle proddings of a friend or family member?

Jesus to run for record 26th term in office !

sources within heaven have revealed to us that jesus h christ intends to run for what would become his 26th term in office as ruler of the galaxy.. since his first term began in 1914 he's been unopposed in office despite, many say, failing to deliver on any of his pre-election promises.
