Looking for info on the WTS development of baptism ?'s & requirement's
by jwfacts inin a recent thread blondie mentioned that the baptism questions were not introduced until the 1960s.
what do an interested person have to do prior to then in order to be allowed to be baptised?.
it got me thinking about the wts justification for the questions.

I never had any formal training. I have moved around a lot and in every KH, I was known as the "SongBird"........lol
I performed songs I wrote, sang and played guitar at a high school choir event (I wasn't in choir, I played flute and piccolo in band, 1st chair) and wrote, sang and played guitar for my senior class graduation.
It is has been a strong desire to take voice lessons and be in a band. Maybe one day I will!

Here we go again . . . The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
by cruzanheart ini got an email with an audio attachment (haven't listened to it) that's being passed around the witness community.
here's the written part of it anyway:.
i just wanted to let you know about an important piece of information i heard first hand, this morning (actually on a recording of a bethel representative giving a talk at the 2007 special day assembly in houston, tx).

Nina...thanks for the warning...
I am already shunned by one JW son almost 3 months ago. IF he calls or writes me now, I will assume he is truly afraid I will be destroyed soon....

Welcome Claire
Nobody needs to know your intimate details in life........that is between you and your god.
I learned this later in life as well.
Judgmental people upset me greatly.

What were your reasons for becoming a JW?
by Narkissos inreasons, not excuses -- even valid ones (like, "i was ignorant, depressed, fooled").. yours in the sense that you can still own (to) them -- even though you now know the "answer" was wrong.. this obviously applies to those who became jws -- hence mostly not born-in, although some of the latter might admit to having chosen the jw way for themselves at a certain stage of their childhood or teenage years.. this question is triggered by a previous conversation with purplesofa on another thread:.
i think most of us that came in and not born in were searching.
our hearts were pure in our search.

Blondie said exactly how I feel: I finally learned that religion was not required in a spiritual life.
I was "raised as a JW"...got baptized to follow Jesus example in 1974.......Due to lack of love I could no longer support a religion that was based on performance and not spirituality.

Have you put your JW family behind you? Are you content with your decision
by nicolaou injust feeling a bit fed up.
it's not always like this i know but i'm wondering if life would be far easier for me and my wife if i just drew a line under all my efforts to maintain a relationship with my jw mother, brother and sisters.
all the rejection, judgementalism and condescension gets a bit much after a while.. how many here actually said 'goodbye' to their jw family and can honestly say they did not regret it?.

Thanks for the link Blondie.
I haven't put mine behind me, but their emotional abuse is pushing me in that direction....I have felt very emotionally sick the last 2 months.
