Thank You Leolaia for posting all that info. Its interesting how they say to make it a private matter to celebrate an
anniversary. My sisters and I had a HUGE 25th anniversary party for my parents. Almost everyone from two
congregations were there including elders. We had a dj and bar, the works. I guess they dont read and apply their own material.
I also find it hysterical about the Christmas dinner at the Brooklyn Headquarters. Can you imagine being there to see that!!!

Im looking forward to seeing what comments there are on this, being that my jw parents anniversary is
this weekend. Even though i am df'd, and they somewhat try and shun me (i just wont hear of it, so i
invite myself over whether they like it or not. LOL), anyways, i still make it a point to make a big deal out of it for them. I bought
presents and am taking them over on saturday. I would love to confront them with this question, and then have some
great comeback. I will be checking back on this thread.

while viewing many of your experiences here, its strange to hear the problems that have resulted from many of you being in " the truth ".
i'm speaking with regard to those who've been in most of their lives and have never really known much else.
when i finally came in i had spent a majority of my life, doing the things of the world.
I was raised in the Org my whole life. I totally agree with what Flower said. It is like losing your identity and trying to find it, not knowing who you really are, and what
your really like, since its always been told to you. Its a struggle daily, but i also am finding that i am a much stronger person that i thought i was.
when you were a jw, did it ever dawn on you that the organization and god were pretty much the same thing?
if you disobeyed an organizational rule you were disobeying jehovah god.
if you missed an organizational meeting you were showing lack of appreciation to god himself.
Yes, this is so true. I still find myself with this same thinking and still trying to seperate the two, its so hard when its so ingrained in you.

tonight my sister told me our dad had mentioned that when you do not associate yourself with a disfellowshipped person, relative or not, you are honoring god and following the bible's guidlines.
i asked my sister if she knew where in the bible it states that.
she said she did not know, but knows that its in there, and knows that it relates something to that affect.

and shunned by our family. Since i do not have a bible to research it, i was wondering if anyone knew where in the bible it would state that, and what the scripture says exactly. I just want to know in case
my dad has the same discussion with me, then i can be prepared. Keep in mind he told her this while reminding her she is not allowed in their lives anymore, unless dying or returning to the org.
So, if anyone has any info, can you please share, its much appriciated.

I thought where i live was considered North, but most of you are quite a bit farther up than i am. Im in Los Gatos, South of San Francisco. Its pretty here
not quite as nice as when you go further up though.
