They don't publish memorial partakers for individual countries (do they?). I have the global figures except the 1989 one. You want them?

Service Report for 2005 is not all good
by truthseeker inin a previous post by joker10, he states positive things for the watchtower empire.
we know that the stats are fake, especially those numbers of anointed remnant.

Hi AuldSoul - I saw he was teasing after I posted so went back and modified my message! Often a true word spoken in jest, huh? I am curious how many Secretaries manipulate the reports.

A poster stated
"They probably put me down for ten on the basis of my saying I had talked to people about the truth"
#####################
I have to disagree with this Poster, No SEC would record 10hours - In my exp as a SEC i have never heard or know of any SEC that would put 10hours down-but he might put down 9- smile
Our Sec does that. Or rather, he would if you did 10 hours the previous month, forgot to hand in your report this month and called to say "You forgot to turn in your slip so I just put in what you did last month. You can adjust it next month, OK?"
I just say "OK" and think 'Yeah, whatever.' Not that I've done as much as 10 hours in years (barely active), but had I done 10 hours, that's what he'd count.
I'd be interested to know how common this was, where Sec's put made-up reports in for forgetful publishers.

Looking for some advice
by MuadDib ini'm a young man raised in the jws, been meaning to get the hell out of dodge for a few years now (basically ever since starting a history degree and learning why the jw conception of history, science, and indeed of reality is so utterly nonsensical, in addition to having discovered girls and fun).
i have no qualms about leaving the organization, i don't care what the elders or anyone else think about my decision - with the exception of my family.
i love my family deeply and i know that my decision will really hurt them, especially my mother (a full-time pioneer), and this is making me hesitate to do what i know needs to be done in addition to causing me a lot of worry and stress.

Yeah, I got baptized at 18
Damn! Especially as it was for the wrong reasons. That complicates matters. If you want to keep contact with your family, you're going to have to play this very carefully and patiently. Fading gradually, as others have said, might be the better option for you.

What is on your 'current' reading list?

The Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis (The same reason as Gretchen. Also I remember reading a little at school, loving the idea of walking through a wardrobe into another world, but feeling guilty about there being a witch in the story LOL).
The Twilight of Atheism - A. McGrath (Provocative title - piqued my curiosity.)

how do JW's handle being witnessed to by other religious evangelizers?
by limbogirl inrecently i was at my mother's house -- she is queen jw of her kh (i kid you not) -- when there was a knock on the door and what do you know...it was two young women from one of the local churches out inviting people to attend services.
my mother proceeded to seriously beat the sh*t out of them with her bible knowledge and confusing chronologies.
the two women didn't back down but they soon realized they were in way over their heads.

How do they handle it? They almost always treat it as an opportunity to witness. Just like any driven evangelical would with JWs. While many evangelicals will see JWs as unsaved members of a dangerous cult, which will reflect in their attitude to JWs when they come to the door, many JWs will see the church member coming to their door as a harmful part of apostate, unsaved Christendom, which may reflect in the manner they speak to them. Quite ironic, really.

I just had some fun with dubs at my door.
by JeffT inwhen i opened the door i was expecting the apartment maintance guy.
instead there were two guys with watchtowers.
one starts in on whatever his presentation was going to be and i stop him and say that i'm familiar with jehovah's witnesses, my wife has some witness relatives (true).

There's an elder at my local congo who has on several occasions recently called Jesus our mediator. I don't think anybody has noticed his 'error' and I know he's a born and bred, dyed-in-the-wool, loyal JW too. So it's not all that surprising that 2 ordinary j-dubs at the door were clueless about it.

Has anyone ever taken Belief-Net's test to see what religion you belong in? I could never understand why I always ended up an Orthodox Jew. With all the OT orientation and the almost complete absence of Christ in the WT publications, it is not a surprise.
LOL Blondie! I'm glad I'm not the only one! (Islam is 2nd!!!!) But I don't think the reason is the 'absence of Christ.' I think it's our view of who Christ is in relation to God (my guess is you didn't check the '3 persons in one God' option). But you're right about the OT orientation.

On A Collision Course With the Watchtower Organization.
by Blueblades inhow many of you have been on a collision course with the society because of what you have researched about them.
this is an inescapably situation for some, how about you?

I'm not on a collision course with the WTS. I'm slinking along parallel to them and watching them closely through narrowly slitted eyes.
Fairmind, that's funny.
