If they didn't go away, they definitely weren't as common as they once were. I never heard one personally or heard anyone in my age group that they've heard one.
They've used them in the past for people dating non-believers?
when i was younger i used to hear about "marking talks" given in the past.
i believe they stopped in the 80's or 90's.
basically, if someone wasn't baptized or doing something unrepentant, they would get a "marking talk" and be treated the same as a df person.

Well in today's WT they brought this back! It's now called a "warning talk". Same crap, different name.
13 We need to follow the Bible-based direction we receive from the elders. These loyal shepherds within God’s organization are guided by “wholesome,” or “healthful; beneficial,” instruction found in God’s own Book. (1 Tim. 6:3; ftn.) Recall Paul’s counsel regarding disorderly ones in the congregation. Some individuals were ‘not working at all but were meddling with what did not concern them.’ They were evidently admonished by the elders but persisted in disregarding the counsel. How was the congregation to deal with such a person? Paul directed: “Keep this one marked and stop associating with him.” That counsel was balanced with the caution not to treat such a person as an enemy. (2 Thess. 3:11-15) Today, elders may give a warning talk about someone’s persisting in a course that reflects badly on the congregation, such as dating an unbeliever. (1 Cor. 7:39) How do you react when the elders find it necessary to give such a talk? If you are aware of the situation described in the talk, will you take care to avoid socializing with such an individual? Your loving concern and firm stand may move the person to abandon a disorderly course. [1]
They're going for full control here. Welcome back Marking Talks. It's been a while!
Looks like the boys up top feel like control is slipping out from under them.
has anyone else received this email?
"items priced to move, up to 80% off cost".
i'd post the email but i worry they put secret identifying marks on it somehow.

"Non-profit sale: All proceeds go to international non-profit programs."
the last talk at the assembly made an interesting statement, "we can show faith by following direction if we're asked to move to another kingdom hall for better use of dedicated christian funds".
this statement has everyone talking.
i spoke to multiple individuals and they heard the same thing at different assembly's.. i know they have been "evaluating" all kingdom halls the last year or two.
@fedupjw - Interesting, complete different location then you but also in the US. I'm taking it as they're prepping the sheepies for this. I doubt they'll put anything that hints in downsizing in print. Most likely be a few more reminders to remain loyal from the CO before it starts.

@hecce on a large scale?
I have also heard from reliable sources that Jersey City Assembly Hall is on the chopping block.

The big KH selloff could begin shortly.
just take a look at this video.
i think arguing or debating scriptures is the most pointless thing ever.
everything at their meetings are so basic with no explanation.
I'm 99% sure they went back to the car and she told the group how crazy this guy was with his beliefs and lack of bible understanding. How she is so grateful to have the truth.

Just take a look at this video. I think arguing or debating scriptures is the most pointless thing ever. However, this video shows how little JW's even know anymore. Everything at their meetings are so basic with no explanation.
She could not defend spiritual Israel and wanted to run away. It's actually kinda sad how JW have fallen.
It's also sad I use to think JW would own anyone in a bible debate.
Seems all they know anymore is that they should obey Mother.
with last night's meeting it became official: here in the states is a must to keep up with 'jehovah's org' that one fully jumps on board with this tablet/iphone crap.. so, now, all of us that up to this point have refused to follow the wtbts in their electronic/wireless revolution will deal with the browbeating from the 'spiritual' ones.. already receiving lots of grief from hubby and rest of the family/close friends when seen at the meetings with paper publications.
damn it!!!
am i alone in this resistance???!!!.
I love this change! It looks like my WT is studied as it takes 2 seconds. I never look "un-prepared" as I have every publication on me.
Best yet, I turn the brightness down, surf the web, do work, respond to emails etc... I can now entertain myself for 2 hours vs wanting to blow my brains out! Best part is people think I'm paying attention and following along!
