  i have no interest in pontificating on this matter which to me seems so straightforward.

  however, since i continue to see newbies and others periodically post in error stating that the wts "owns" tobacco company stock i believe that this should be corrected and the matter put to rest, hopefully for good.. .

  You don't just refuse it. It does not work that way. It is the WTBTS that is the beneficiary, not the actual Trust. It was bequeathed to them...They could pick the bloody phone up, call the managers of the trust...said.." Well, this one goes against our Christian conscience, sell the PMorris shares off and reinvest in something that our collective conscience can live with" Puuuuleees, get real.

  6) Until June 24, 2002, the Trust held 350 Shares of Phillip Morris Companies (maker of Nabisco crackers and yes, cigarettes too). The value of these stocks as of April 30, 2002 were $54.43 each or a total asset worth of $19,050.00. [These shares were listed in the Asset Description section of the 990 Filings under "Consumer Staples"]

  Who authorized sale of these stocks??? And interesting that just about anyone on the net could find and download copies of the HR trust fund and see..CLEARLY; that if someone on the internet could access this information......Then most definitely the WTBTS did too.! So stop it!! Just stop talking in a convoluted manner.

  The fact is if I set up a trust fund here and they consist of shares in pharmaceuticals that my beneficiaries may not agree with..They are certain to inquire as to what this trust fund consists of..You really are stretching it mate.

  How bloody fascinating that they did sell them. The fact is, there has to be accountability for what ever the managers of that trust fund do.   The trust assets as of April 30, 2005 consisted of approximately 48% Oil & Gas Royalties (from owned or leased Oil/Gas wells I assume) and the remainder of the assets in Corporate Stocks (22%), Corporate Bonds (14%) & Mutual Funds (16%).

  Such an illogical explanation that shot you in your own foot. Read up on trust funds again, for you are not very well versed on the topic. WTBTS KNEW. And they took their sweet time in "selling off". Bet they don't mind all the other shoddy funds they are well invested in.

  soooo...i have recently been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, and am scared out of my mind.

  in a weak moment, i called my parents and my mom answered.

  i start crying as i tell her about my disease, and this woman says to me:.

  Suicide Prevention Counseling

  in the 1980's when i was an elder, i don't remember the society providing any guidance to elders on suicide prevention counseling.

  i realize much has changed since then.

  can any current/recent elders update me on what the current position of the local elders would be if approached by someone in the congregation contemplating suicide and seeking help?.

  I can. An elders daughter is supposed to be bi polar...Lucky her, she has two ways of being....Not to digress..........In the late 1990s suddenly, embracingly, the society in Australia started to change their views on psychiatry. There was so much going against the society for it's prior stand againts such help, that here in this country, there had to be a change. Suddenly, from the Head Quarters and endorsed by the GB there were
  " sudden changes" in attitudes toward those who would need psychiatric help. It took a few suicides to achieve this.....I know for a clear fact though, that as recent as last year, the unofficial response is still a secret "negative'. Interestingly, I found out that a lot of women worked in the counselling industry..This was highly disturbing to me. These people could scroll through records and whatever.....

  The official public view is that young ones and old ones are being put under pressure by Satan's system. Therefore you can medicate up to the eyeballs if you want...but, the atmosphere surrounding those who do such things is somewhat suspicious...This is from personal experiences with a 28 year old who only wanted to have her babies and fulfill a great need in her....

  US Royal Commission or Something Like it

  what would be the equivalent of a us version of the royal commission?

  i'm not just asking about one specific governmental entity, but perhaps even a conglomerate of entities or series of events that would need to take place to cause a domino effect....a tipping point.

  who do you think needs to be contacted that can turn around and contact a lot of others?looking for thoughts and ideas.

  defender of truth. Essentially it was the outrage of many who had suffered in religious organizations that caused such a public awareness. It takes a few with enough courage to state the facts

  Julia Gillard accepted this need and announced her decision to have an inquest or Royal Commission. She may not have initiated the inquest in it's formative state, but she certainly stamped it "approved" at the end of the day. Certainly she was not that popular in many liberal circles, but she is labour in belief. I liked her most of the time, although at times she needed diction lessons in order not to switch people off to the actual message.

  She was the one who gave it the go ahead.

  Not good to lie to the Royal Commission as they are given two alternatives. Swear on the bible or make and oath...Once an oath is proven to be a perjury then there are consequences. Mr Angus Stewart wanted an extension but was not granted this..No doubt there will be "findings" This will reveal a lack of transparency and honesty. People from all over have written to this man......re the lies.

  I would like to remind you that this religion has been banned before and it was due to it's sectarian views as opposed to a religious view. I confess that there was a patriotic aspect to this.....But what the hell? If you are benefiting from the policies of the government you have adopted, why should you shun them and accuse them when they make decisions that don't' fit with your neutral stance on " all matters" that don't fit in with your adopted point of view..........in this case a religious one.

  It is insufficient to claim the "neutral stance". The witnesses are not neutral if you study their literature.

  Nothing is passive if you really read the messages about how Satan is dominating this world.........Men are doing that, and other good men and women are working against injustice.

  Jehovah's Witnesses have forfeited their precious "good standing" due to these most obvious lies.......... Their well publicized and bragged about, successes in law courts have been blatantly bragged about over the years. They have pounded their chests in displays of righteousness to the point of pure arrogance and vanity... Law courts are essentially a reflection of the political atmosphere in which ever country or state it operates in.

  after a few months of lurking on this site, i've decided to take the plunge...i don't really care so much about introducing myself, but somehow there is some relief in the thought of getting my little story out there, just getting it out of my system.

  Welcome to you. Try to enjoy this forum and speak to some who really know a lot. Pose questions if you suffer some doubts. People will not hurt you here and you will be answered. I feel very sad for you. I also feel that there is nothing wrong with "love", no one on this earth has any right to tell you how to love or whom you should love. Please don't cave in to the awful man made doctrines that have distorted any message that Christ left for us. If you prefer.......call him Buddha, Fred, Eric........whatever..Just don't forget that the old laws were done away with because of the excessive burdens added to the Jews of the day.

  Try to find those who will speak to you and try not to despair. That is pathetic, of course you will despair. Just make sure you are safe and warm when you do it.....xxx
