  think about this: if seven times mean only 7 years then daniel could have simply said 7 years.

  why does daniel specifically use the word 'times' rather than years?

  as we have already shown daniel used the word for 7 times instead of 7 years.

  Ummm, no you didn't prove that. In fact some of the definitions you gave shows that parousia means presence and means the visit of a king. Of course for the king to be present he must first arrive. But the emphasis of parousia is not just on his arrival but on his presence afterward. His presence is felt by the things that he does or accomplishes.

  Alans line by line response, detailed by disection of every utterance of nonsense by yourself, you simply state "its mumbo jumbo" Why dont you show your refutations in a way that would gather at least a little bit of credence.

  But no you'll sit with your fingers in ears cryin out blah,blah blah I cant hear you.

  Your crediblity is lacking by your inability to refute even the smallest of the items hashed out here.

  I gotta chime in here,

  Great thread. Ive mentioned here before about my study with my stepfather elder who is a college grad and a investigator with the federal defender office.

  Dont ask me how he got away with this career. Now retired. Anyhow the study made its way to 607, 1914 and he became visably fustrated. He just could not prove it. And I held his feet to the fire.

  So with those work related "skills" I figured this was the silver bullet. NOT, he finally says "well this is what we believe and thats it"

  So there you go. He probably feels comfort within the org. and does not want to upset the apple cart.

  Let's assume 607 correct.... How can they prove that lead to 1914?

  i mean i understand the arguments they make - the calculations they lay out.

  i did it for 40 years myself as a witness.

  my question is a simple one - what 'proof' can the witnesses use to support the entire idea of converting a scripture about the 'gentile times', and a kings' insanity that lasted for 7 literal years into 2520 years?

  AK,

  This situation is the one subject that the Witness can look at and see for themselves. I love the fact that it is a slippery slope for the witness that truely wants the truth.

  Also the glaring fact they really have no workable kings list that brings them to 537bce.

  today, as i celebrated the last day in the first half of my 20's, i started doing all sorts of sinful things.

  i have done the following disfellowshippable offenses i've smoked weed, i've been on an unchaperoned date (with the most wonderful person in the world, my beautiful and still charming ex girlfriend), i've gotten drunk, talked to a disfellowshipped person, and to boot, i'm on an apostate site.

  Long time lurker...first time poster

  i've been reading here for a while now.

  i kept having problems logging in...so i hope that is over now.. i'm a fader, 5 years this summer.

  my family came in in the 30's, and most all still are in... po's, elders, reg pios, pillars...you know the story.

  i swear my mother used to keep better track of my bladder than i did.

  she'd sit me down occasionally for talks such as "i noticed you've been going to the bathroom a lot during the meetings lately maybe we need to cut down on what you drink on meeting nights" etc.

  others would go 2 or 3 times a meeting and if i went twice a week i'd get a talk about it!
