For active believing JWs: How would you feel if:

Because honestly those things do not bother me.

Careful, Defd. People are going to question your empathy as a human being.

For example, the leaders and policy makers have told Jehovah's Witnesses in the past that certain blood-based preparations and procedures were forbidden. (e.g. Serum albumin & gamma globulin)

These leaders and policy makers also told Jehovah's Witnesses that if they permitted the administration of these preparations to their child, the child would not be resurrected in the New Order.

Parents believed them and children died.

This position was subsequently reversed. Today no one thinks twice about accepting these preparations. Human albumin for example is used in many common child-hood vaccinations.

The leaders and policy makers of Jehovah's Witnesses lie about this today by claiming that their position has been consistent.

How would you describe using a parent's religious beliefs to manipulate them into causing the death of their own child as anything but one of the most obscenely evil things one human being can do to another?

How could this not be troubling?

ok defd Let's take it one step further

In spite of all the evidence I just don't want to believe that the one person I thought I could trust has betrayed that trust. Divorce happens to "other" people. I have lived with this person for so many years and I just can't afford to lose everything I have worked so hard to build. I don't want my kids to grow up without their father.

Because honestly those things do not bother me.

Isn't this like saying I know they have betrayed others but I refuse to believe they are betraying me?

I'm not trying to attack you. I have been out for over 29 years and I'm not sure what the present thinking is on these matters.

I have learned SO much from serving Jehovah. The FDS has done more good to me than bad. It is the "FRIENDS who cause me heartache not the FDS.

In the Bible, we're warned not to engage in idolatry because those that worship idols will become just like them; deaf, dumb, powerless.

The principle that you are what you worship is seen in all religions. Nobody can be bigger, more moral, more generous than their higher power.

The JW's take their lead from the FDS. Not just what it says, but what it does. By sanctioning a shunning a policy, the FDS teaches that it's ok to treat certain people inhumanely. By teaching that only JW's will survive Armageddon, they teach that God also considers humans as groups, accepting some and destroying others. By constantly nitpicking at the friends from the platform, the FDS teaches the friends to be nitpickers themselves, constantly judging each other over trivialities.

The "friends" that cause you heartache are that way exactly because of the FDS, not in spite of it.

I would have to disagree with that. I get the same info as everyone else and I am not like alot of brothers.

Also too i know of SOME "LIES" as most put it here, from being on here and frankly have never heard of it before. I first heard of 1914 and the changes here. NGO scandle here. I already new on my own from studying about certain thoughts about scriptures changing. Again attack me if you will. It does not bother me. Ever since I have been in the truth my life has changed for the better. I have become a better person than I was prior to the truth. I have learned alot about Jehovah God and his Son Jesus. I have come to know them now more so than I ever have before. I mean, I was a Catholic ALL my life and NEVER once heard of Jehovah. That is no lie. I learned so many things that are contrary to what I always thought. I have learned way to much truth. I will never give it up!

Then, defd, I would say that you have a marvellous ability to eat the peach and spit out the pit. I'd say the reform in your life is genuine, but the source is not the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

I'd bet your compassion and spiritual growth would increase tenfold if you spent ten more minutes a week reading the bible...straight...and ten minutes less reading the magazines.

As a JW I always knew that being a JW was a protection for me. I was high risk for prositution and drug use do to the abuse in my past. Being a JW stopped me from going down that road. And that was most definitely a good thing.

But I also wound up living with an abusive JW mother and an abusive husband/elder. After I left the JW I went into therapy and learned a tremendous amount about the dynamics of abuse of power and authority. It still took me 10 years to make the connection between the dynamics of familial/spousal abuse and spiritual abuse.

And I think for me the betrayal that I felt about the WTS policies hurt way more than the betrayal from my mother or my husband.

Yes I knew there were JWs who were not fitting the WTS mold. And well, they were just imperfect men and women. But the society says they gets their authority from God. How can they, with God's approval, hurt and betray the very power and authority that was "entrusted" to them?

Not bragging so do not take it as if i were. But the difference betweenn me and MOST of the brothers and sisters at my hall is......................When WE study the WT on Sunday or the Kingdom Ministry on Thursday, I correctly understand what the Slave is teaching us, where as the others do not. They take to extremes or go the other way. Am I making any kind of sense? I havent read the magazines not because I do not trust them. It is just I have no time. As you know just being a WITNESS is a very busy schedule. Yes Id read the bible before Id read the Magazines. I do enjoy the Magazines though.
