    defd,

Suppose a man had walked up to Daniel and said, "I have prophecies from God and He also sent a lot of new rules for you to follow, can you take notes?"

Further suppose, when he got done relating the prophecies and rules to Daniel, he went on to hand Daniel a sheaf of papers that explained the meaning in detail of every one of the prophecies. As he walked away, he admonished, "Make sure you follow those rules!"

Then suppose, over the next hundred years, the prophecies didn't happen as related and this man kept coming back to Daniel over and over again and updating and revising the explanation of the prophecies, eventually changing almost everything in the sheaf of papers. During this same time, he repeatedly revises the rules he claims to have received from God, sometimes even changing them and then changing them back.

Suppose after a hundred years of frequent revision Daniel hears the man telling other people that, as God's prophet, he has always explained the many of the prophecies in the same way they are explained today.

Now, would Daniel be wise to teach his son that this man is a prophet of God and that the rules he gives should be followed because these rules are from God?
