"They were not happy about his decision, but they accepted his decision," Lloyd recalled. "And he respected their views on the issue, too."

They sound like good people. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

I am so very sorry at the loss of an old friend. My heart goes out to you and his family.

I disagree with the Iraq war, but I am supportive of our troops. His loss and the number he signifies is very sad indeed. His willingness to do his part is one of honour. For that I am proud of him.

Regardless of the politics of the matter, he was doing his duty.

I've got chills from reading that, especially the part where he left specific instructions to forego military honours.

    Respect!!!

    R.I.P Sergeant!

I have nothing but respect and admiration for this man… If only I weren’t such a coward.

That is sad news, I always watch the news special "Fallen Heroes" ( I think that is what it is called) and listen to the names. It is so sad.
