I think any bible film should also have the same thing. Like Mel Gibson’s Passion of Christ should have a disclaimer saying this is based on fiction and not to be taken literally....

I hear you . . . Gibson went overboard with the depiction of Jesus' torture and death. How does anyone know how it really happened ? All speculation.

I’m with the nun on this. It’s blatant plagiarism. Dan Brown has clearly stolen the works from a piece of fiction to create his own piece of fiction. At the very least, the apostles should get a percentage of the royalties.

LMAO! Good one steve! But, who would be the apostles' heirs? I think this would start a holy war between the various Christian religions.

I know it is a piece of fiction and I have read both sides of the argument.

But if it were true and the early church fathers spun a fake story about Mary Magdalene this would change everything. Not that it matters to me but the whole church theology would be knocked into a cocked hat.

P.S. I read the book and it is all Bull SHEET the book is wrong in its facts but is right about Jesus being married. So the books facts are not true but he is right but Jesus being married.
    For Pete's sake, it's a novel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with Mulan. DaVinci Code is a fictional book! It's supposed to be fiction. I am still amazed this is stirring up so much controversy. It's a work of fiction. It says so right in the beginning! Everyone is outraged about it and trying to debunk it. How do you debunk something that's fiction?

C'mon folks, chill out; it's just a novel, and a pretty good one at that.

That was my point in my previous post.

Aren't lots of novels "BASED" on real events????

I heard a quote from the author, Dan Brown, on an NBC Dateline program about the book. He said "It's a novel". I thought that was pretty good. He was not available to appear on the show so sent a statement. Hahahhahaha.

Is it a quirk of our times, and of ex JW's that we think if it's written down, it must be factual?? We have some friends (also ex JW's) who thought the movie National Treasure just might have some truth behind it. Oh brother.

I have read the book and agree with all the critics; it is poorly writen with an appalling bad ending.

Then again being an armchair critic is far too easy. It is an entertaining book book which should make a 'good' film (i.e. in the Indiana Jones style). It should be taken for what it is a bit of light reading not a serious proposal about the life and offspring of Christ.

ps want some good thought provoking reading try Midnight's Children, The Satanic Verses, The Moor's Last Sigh - all by me of course.
