Hi Terry, I really enjoy your articles because they make so clear what I struggled to understand when reading JW literature.
I tried to explain to a JW "friend," that the reason I left the RC church was because a priest told me that I could not claim the promises of Scripture apart from the official teaching (Magisterium) of the Church. (E.g., regarding salvation and Justification by Grace thru Faith.) The JW agreed that I should have left,saying,"That's how the RCs hold people in slavery." BUT,when I told him that now the JWs are telling me that I cannot claim,or even UNDERSTAND, Scripture promises, his exact response was,"Now wait a minute,let's not go on a tangent!"
I think it takes the Grace of God to see thru the blindness of any authoritarian religion.
