Here the Witnesses serve their fellow man. Several paint their fellow man's houses. Several clean businesses and homes, making for a cleaner, better world. Some do auto detailing and minor repair like vinyl repair and window chip repair. We all know how ugly unpinstripped cars are.

And keeping hard working immagrant families from doing their fair share. (tongue firmly planted in cheek)

What in this whole world has the Watchtower and its 6 million of followers ever done for this world?

    (long pause)

    I'm THINKING! I'm THINKING!!!

Next question please---I can't think of an answer to this one.

They don't drain the blood banks, at least when the elders are watching.

They have provided plenty of paper to light bonfires.

They buy up the cheap suits that nobody else wants.

They keep the briefcase companies in business.

    Greetings:

At the individual level Jehovah's Witnesses/the religion has brought about positive of destructive habits such as gambling, smoking and drug use, etc. among many persons (at least thousands) and this in turn as had positive effects upon society at large. This is in addition to the general shaping of personalities which makes most Witnesses overall decent people (albeit with their own set of problems of course.) This is a good thing in the world.

At a larger level, there have been instances (though few and far between) where Witnesses have gotten involved and come to the aid of others in times of natural disaster and crisis.

Finally, Jehovah's Witnesses, especially in the United States, deserve credit as a group which has championed civil rights. As a group, the state, federal and supreme court cases that Jehovah's Witnesses have brought forth in litigating their rights have secured the Constitutionally protected freedoms of speech and free exercise of religion for EVERYONE. Their contribution to the world in this area is unparalleled and stands above almost every other group (second perhaps only to the ACLU itself). For that fact alone anyone that says that they have contributed nothing to the world is a liar and obviously blinded by their own bias.

As with all other organisations (and individuals) we have to look at the overall balance of good and harm they have done to society.

In the case of the WTS the harm done far outweighs the good eg they helped in promoting freedom of speech in the country yet in their own society they have totally suppressed it. Their environment makes for more stable families yet they have ruined thousands with their disfellowshipping concept.

If you are to give with one hand and take away with the other what's the point? In that case being good is only an appearence and a subtle deception in the spirit of babylon the great.
