Did anyone see Penn & Teller's "Bullshit" episode where they actually took swabs from a few people (one was a gorgeous female model, just to show how her germs comparted to us regular folks) to see how many harmful germs they had. Doctors swabbed from ass, genitals, nose and hands. They also swabbed toilets, both clean and not-so-clean.
The results? Neither the asses, nor toilets were particularly germ-ridden. In fact, they were "cleaner" than most kitchen sinks.
I highly recommend this program, not only because of the gatuitous nudity and cursing, but because it debunks many myths and urban legends.
Are you kidding me? I shower every morning, and then I tuck Mr. Winky into a nice clean pair of underwear. He's all fresh & clean! But my hands? Jeez .. I've been petting the cat and shaking hands with total strangers ... I wash my hands BEFORE I pee.
This is exactly what I was going to say. Thorough scrubbing with soap and hot water before and after. Obvioiusly urine is sanitary, but we're not talking about urine here. I can't help but think about all the guy's hands I've shaken all day and that they probably DON'T wash. So in effect it's like grabbing their penis with my hand (which is bad enough to think of...), and then I'm gonna grab mine without washing? No thanks.
