Why the WTS hates the Internet

The WTS & its various corporations are a behemoth, rudderless ship with no one at the helm; only concerned with self-preservation. The result is an inflexible Organization slow to make change and not interested in the welfare & rights of individual members.

The Internet and boards such as this allow for excellent communication and freedom of information.

Because the Internet is free and provides relative anonymity it has proven to be one of the greatest threats to the WTS.

The WTS leaders could be proactive and act in an ethical way, but they'd rather react when a perceived "threat" arises -- telling members to avoid the Internet, shun family members, do more/stay busy, and so on.

As JT used to say, "I love this 'net thang"

I always hated those talks about how the internet was "The Devil" and stuff. They're all such a bunch of control freaks. It makes me want to vomit when I think about it.

Steve - I forgot about that thread, it was an excellent synopsis of what is happening in the Org. Thanks for the reminder.

Dustin - It is quite sickening how they control, and influence even the smallest aspects of people's lives.

I understood when they warned against porn. I understood when they warned against apostate websites. But when they said witnesses could not have their own websites and said that witnesses should not associate with other witnesses online, all I could think was "what the flock?"

Of course now I realize that they are just afraid of people becoming enlightened

First let me say that "Why the Governing Body hates the Internet" would have been a more accurate theme because the WTS is an organization and therefore is a generalization being that it has no one feeling. Governing Body BTW is not "one" feeling either but I think it narrows things down much better.

What I see happening is that the Governing Body is being ignored when they have articles written about how close the end is. Many no longer take them that serious since they have cried "wolf" too many times. When they keep warninng about the internet and trying to scare everybody eventually it falls on deaf ears,, and so the JWs keep disabeying the Governing Body in this matter and this spells thier end in very clear terms.

It's funny, every elder I know has the internet. I guess it's OK for them to surf around.

I'm subbed to Witness World, a JW web site. What's funny is how many of the devout JW's on that site have stumbled onto this one and other "apostate" sites while searching for pro-JW sites.
