My hubby thinks it's amazing that I can spot a JW from a distance. I knew that guy how gave my kids that crappy bible story book was a jw before he even pulled the book out but I wasnt quite sure. I should always trust my instincts.

Sometimes, but not always. Usually it is the terminology that gives them away more than the appearance.

It's ironic that this post pops up. Just this past weekend me and my wife spotted four JWs. My wife is getting good at spotting them too! She says, "Hey, aren't those JWs?" I said "Yes!" I confirmed it because I recognized one of them.

JWs are usually in groups of two or four (unless there's a child)

In the workplace it can be tricky especially if you work in a corporate environment. Usually I can tell the DUB's by their not participating in any of the office celebrations related to holidays or by their refusal to work any overtime because of "personal reasons". Also they tend to be extremely unflexible when it comes to taking vacation time (particularily for an assembly). They do not care about seniority or the work load of other staffers, all they care about is getting time off to attend their assembly.

I have this incredible knack for spotting them, I call it my Dub-dar, kinda like radar.

Back during the Christmas season, I was in the dollar store, and for some reason the cashier reminded so much of a JW, I cant really explain it, other than she had this somber, distant look on her face. I kinda wanted to test her just to see. I figured I could ask her how her Christmas shopping was going or something to that effect, but I didnt. Now I dont see her there anymore and wonder if she has quit her job. She had this young JW Pioneer look, Now I may never know if she was one or not.

Also back about 3 weeks ago we were on our way up through Kentucky to my uncle's funeral and we stopped at a gas station. As I was coming back to the car after paying, I noticed a lincoln continental pulled into the parking lot and there were 3 men and a women all dressed up wearing their trenchcoats etc etc etc, and this was on a saturday morning around 10:30 am. I just knew they were witnesses as people in that part of that part of the state seldom dress up and wear suits and ties.Well they parked, got out, and went into the arbys reataurant that was located inside the gas station. I went in and walked through the restaurant hoping to hear some of their conversation, but I didnt have much time, so I had to leave. Im convinced they were JW's and if only I had more time that day I would have stayed around and toyed with them for a little bit. I could have ordered some food and sat close by and see if they try to witness to me. When I got back to the car I told Amanda, "I can almost bet they were witnesses"

It's the stench they give off. Oh, and the bookbag.

it's more easy to recognise them when they are at least 2, they then have some kind of behaviours (out how they are closed) that can tell you they are JW's
