This is a FLUFF thread.I can't take it seriously and neither should anyone else.

Absolutely agree. Whether serious or otherwise, I love the reactions you get. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether I'm serious or not; I usually await some kind of consensus, then decide. The role of humor can never be underestimated. Humor hits the nail on the head far more tellingly than its lack.

every group needs a place where they can feel somewhat safe online. I like to read some of the posts there, but I wouldn't bother posting anything that is anti-witness or "apostate" in nature. I think it is great these witnesses on are online and posting. If they can ignore the Society's discouragement to stay away from such boards, than maybe at some point these will do some research on their own and find this board or silentlambs, etc.

I would just leave their board alone.

Eyebrow- I think you're right. And I didn't mean to encourage any trolling. Simon was right for calling it so.

Anyway, I would encourage people to read some of the posts on that site...some of it's interesting to say the least.

I do get perturbed and grumpy when XJWS will not support (and state it publicly)

( poztate please understand i say the following respectuflly and not in a combative tone or meaning)

while i respect their activities and courage , i feel free as an ex jw to choose who i support publicly. and think its more jw mentality to try to force pubic support of anyone.

I respect your opinion. The main thought that I was trying to make (poorly perhaps) was not who we supported publicly but who we found the need to be critical of in public.

You mention you respect their courage and activities and so do I .Best wishes to you.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

While it is not surprising language has disintegrated, have you noticed this newer more subtle trend gripping people of all ages?

I first noticed it's prevalence on the myriads of decorating programmes on TV. (Yes, I am a decorating junkie.)

When it comes time at the end of the programme for the "big reveal" you hear the choruses of parents and echoes of children all saying "OH MY GOD!"

I find this especially disconcerting coming out of the mouths of babes, but I hear it so often (it often spoils the show i.m.o., so now I had to give this some thought and ask for your comments also.

A sister mentioned to me that she is taken aback to hear young Witness children and adults using this expression also, even when walking from door to door in the service.

When did this happen? And why?

Well, of course children are going to parrot what they hear at home, and if they do not hear it there they are surrounded daily by peers who do use such expressions and of course by the various media sources.

Are you aware of this sneaking into your vobabulary? Do you hear youngsters using this expression?

All my working life I had to struggle against foul language. Often workmates used the "f" word in a sentence nine words out of ten. It was used as a verb, an adverb and an adjective. You merely had to listen to where the inflection was placed to figure out what the meaning was. So much for using creative adjectives for description.

I appreciate the insidious nature of bad language.
    What are your thoughts?

gee, what an inane subject to talk about! They should thank their lucky stars that their kids aren't saying "for fooks' sake" or something to take the place of "oh my god".

Did you guys read the post about Prince on there?

He rated #1 for top concert boxoffice receipts at $87m.

That would build a lot of Kingdom Halls, wouldn't it?

I knew that one was coming.
