At my house, it'd be easy to just NOT answer the door, unless of course, the little one was home!! They cannot tell if you are home even if your car is in the driveway.

Never having been a dub, and spending countless hours at various Christian denominations, I feel I can honestly say that I have NEVER, EVER heard the follow said in those churches:

" Begged me to let him stop for "just 15 minutes."

"and he's "not out to get anyone."

"And he's "circling the block if it's okay to drop in."

OMG.... it's too pathetically funny because although it reads like fiction, it real.

****getting the popcorn out and pulling up a chair***

    Let us know what happens.

Call the police and tell them you think a man is driving around your neighborhood looking into the windows of women's home's who have just got out of the shower

I was thinking on same lines - but looks more like he's kerb - crawling to me.(Is that the same in US-speak?)

Well, my question would be... What's the point in letting him in? I mean, you know why he's there whatever he may say. So why answer the door? What does it accomplish?

    circling the block?

Definitely sounds "stalker-ish", "vulture-ish" and creepy. I'd avoid a visit if at all possible. No good will come of it. I would also enter that phone number in my phone's directory as "JW Stalker" or something like that, in case they ever call again. Then you can just not answer the phone next time they're "circling the block". And don't erase the call history of those calls, in case you decide to charge them with harassment.

Odrade, I remember having to deal with these riduculis elder issue; skating thin ice to try to maintain your respect...

simple solution for this "over the top" elder. Since he called YOU and not your husband--we know that this is clearly NOT the right procedure for him---Have your HUSBAND return the call- and ask what his call to you was in reference to--this will put the nosy elder on the defensive. Of course, we know the elders response will be that he wants to come by to encourage you; blah, blah.

Humor him and tell him how thoughtful that is of him but due to secular or family commitments ; now or tommorrow is not a good time to meet; YOU WILL CALL HIM.

Whatever you do; do not arrange a meeting with them or LET THEM IN YOUR HOUSE. You know the drill.

    Just keep putting them off....

I hope you have call display on your phone ... then you never have to answer another one of their calls.

so far so good, the public talk with C.O. was today of course, and we haven't heard back from him. He will be visiting the other two congregations that meet in our former hall for the next two weeks, so it's possible he may try again. If so, I can dodge, then we're probably fine for another 6 months.

I have caller ID, plus all the JWs who call us are labeled on my phone, but I recently got a new cell phone, so hadn't programmed in the numbers to avoid answering yet. LOL! That'll teach me!
