What was your Favorite book when you were a child?

Mine was: The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein

Also I love the Story of Ickle me Pickle me Tickle me too!

Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too. Went for a ride in a flying shoe. Hooray! What Fun! It's time we flew!

Said Ickle Me, Pickel Me,Tickle Me too. Ickle was captian. and Pickle was crew.

And Tickle served coffee and mulligan stew

As Higher And Higher And higher they flew

Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too.

Ickle Me, Pickel Me, Tickle Me too, Over the sun and beyond the blue.

Hold on! Stay in! I hope we do! Cried Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too.

Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too

Never returned to the world they knew, And nobody knows what's happened to,

Dear Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too.

I couldn't read yet, but I had it memorized to the point that I could pretend to read it. I even knew when to turn the pages.

The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton. The pictures are great.

When I got older, Anne of Green Gables, and one I inherited called Autobiography of a Tomboy. I remember busting a gut at the part where this Victorian girl gets her hair cut in a 'shingle', and walks home past the neighborhood boys. Their taunt was "monkey, monkey, barrel of beer, how many monkeys have we here?" Her reply was "one, two, three, just three monkeys here."

Nancy Drew was a biggie, too.

One called "The Fuzzy Kitten", and the kitten WAS fuzzy on every page! I was about five when I got it and I carted it around everywhere!

I also loved all the Peter Rabbit books.

When I got a bit older, I loved the Nancy Drew series too.
