Hey, if I was to start trying to plan a little Apostafest here in Missouri sometime in October or November, who all might be interested in coming??? The Texas one looks so fun that I wanna do one!

I would love to go to an Apostafest but Missouri is a bit of a drive for me. I can't commit to coming right now but if it's in St. Louis I would definitely try to go. I have a few friends in St. Louis. ;)

Hello Copsec,

If it was in the east side of the state Joyzabel and I might be willing to come. St. Louis county is our old home teritory. We have history all up and down the Mo side of the river.

We have a busy October already but November is free. But plan what is good for those close by and us travelers will just try to fit in. Your Missouri friends will provide a core for a gathering and hopefully others will travel from out of state. give it a shot.

Well, seems as if St. Louis would be good for those who have responded so far. What is everyone's plans for Thanksgiving weekend? I have four days off at that time and maybe we could find a hotel who would give a discount??? Would that be a good time for ya'll? Those who planned the Dallas one please give me suggestions on what I need to do to get this organized. I would just LOVE to meet as many people that could make it!

I think Thanksgiving would be a bad idea because I know I have family stuff to do, and I am sure most others do too. You might not have as good of a turn out. I have planned several get-togethers on another group I am part of (not XJWs but Tori Amos fans) and it never works out when it's around a holiday because everyone visits their family and then doesn't show up to the gathering. Also you have to think about weather, if you hold it too late in the years it'll be winter and there might be travelling problems. I would suggest August-September and maybe even October before any snow falls. Also you have to consider lodging, if you don't have enough room at your home to let people crash, then you might want to pick an inexpensive nearby hotel (so you can drive to the hotel really quickly if there's any problems and help deal with them) and call them and see if they will offer a discount for multiple rooms. Lots of times a hotel will give you a free suite if you book a certain number of rooms, and it is fun as hell to party in a suite!

Yeah, thats why I asked everyone's plans for that weekend. I only do stuff with the hubby's family that weekend and I don't care if I mis it or not so I was just wondering. The only reason I was thinking that weekend is that with the job I have, I cannot really take off work except in the extreme winter months and thats not a good time to have it. But, I was already going to be off four days then cause of the holiday. If someone else wants to help plan this then we can do it another time, I just wont be available to help out except for evenings or weekends But I am willing to take suggestions!

I'm in Michigan. That's almost 500 miles from me. I'd like to come but probably couldn't Thanksgiving weekend. I was kind of hoping for a more central city for a midwest meetup. I know Ohio Cowboy and others from the midwest are interested in a Mid West meetup.

I would be very willing to help with planning an Apostafest however I have been burned before and I would definitely NOT want to plan it all on my own. If we could get a list of the midwest JWD members (maybe from that map) I could contact everyone and figure out a more centralized location then we can vote on it. It's always a good idea to pick a city where a member lives because 1) they know the area and can suggest places to go eat and things to do and 2) just in case things get too wild and we need to address an issue and 3) it's so much easier to check out hotels and such if you live nearby.
