    Can a ten year old

chose a marriage mate or decide on a career? This is breathtakingly unscriptural

    This is priceless.

Thanks to all for your thoughts.

This is probably another attempt by the Faithfull and indiscreet Discrete Slave to bolster baptisms before the end of the "spiritual" year in August. This way, they can mainain that certain baptismal levels for their statistics. They must be having a very bad year compared to previous years.

How long on average does it take a person with no experience of JWs to go from that first knock on the door to being baptised?

Say it's two years, well the GB could "reasonably" say that a child with the "advantage" of being born into the borg would be ready two years from being able to read and understand well enough to begin taking in the information and comment at meetings beyond saying "Jehovah!". Many JW kids seem to read from being very young (the only advantage I can think of that JW kids have), so they'd be "ready" by eight, no problem.

They could also say that if the parents are baptised when they're born they will be raised as a dub anyway, and *may aswell* get dipped as babies.

They didn't say FORCE THEM, but if they want to do it WILLINGLY, let them and do not stand on their way.

So are you suggesting their is no end called Armageddon? There is according to the bible! Is it near? Who knows? It appears it is near according to world events.

    Hi Reason....

From your comments regarding world events and "the end" being near, why donĀ“t you open another thread with regards to this and lets, as per your name suggests, reason upon the matter?. Looking forward to it

Basically, they want 'infant' or child baptism??!!

Met............good point.........they always stressed how WRONG it was to baptize infants.....yadayadayada...........methinks they are just the biggest hypocrites, once again!!

Seems like everything they damned the Catholic Church for is now being adopted by them!

    Sickens me.........

I thought the same thing Sunnygal. Why don't they just get it over with and announce new light on baptism and start sprinkling children at birth like the Catholics? That way they can artificially inflate the numbers and make it appear there is still growth going on. What hypocrites!

So are you suggesting their is no end called Armageddon? There is according to the bible! Is it near? Who knows? It appears it is near according to world events.

There is no end called Armageddon described in the Bible that is anything like what Jehovah's Witnesses teach will happen. The Bible Armageddon is a battle that occurs in the Middle East immediately prior to the visible return of Christ, which will culminate in the armies of earth uniting to oppose Him at that return, and His destruction of them. There is no hint in the Bible of a worldwide destruction of 99.9% of mankind who are not loyal members of a publishing corporation that can easily be proven according to scripture to be a false prophet.

As far as it being "near according to world events", the WTS was saying the same thing 100 years ago, and 50 years ago, and 25 years ago etc. It's always "near" according to them. Every new world event that develops is somehow interpreted as a sign that the end is imminent. If there's war, it's "nation rising against nation," proving the end is near. If there's peace, then it proves that the cry of "peace and security" is coming soon, and the end is near. No matter what happens, "world events" prove that "the end is near." They've set so many dates that have proven to be false, why would anyone take them seriously when they just say "soon"?

." They've set so many dates that have proven to be false, why would anyone take them seriously when they just say "soon"?

For the very same reason humans have always been comforted by the words 'everything is going to be OK', 'let momma kiss it and it will feel better', 'sooner better than later'.............

Our minds are bolstered by expressions like these......no matter how grim and hopeless the situation. JW's can only use such hope inspiring words, they cannot offer any real meat of doctrinal proof, so they must use whatever means they can to inspire the troops.

After a lifetime of hanging on every word uttered from platform and printed page, most long time jw's must now be somewhat relieved to imbibe in the same meaningless expressions 'religions' have used for centuries.....'the time is at hand', 'jesus is coming', 'the end is near', without the slightest need to prove who is the 'wild beast' that eats the 'harlot' riding on it's back. They don't even believe that bs anymore.

I think they are kinda of enjoying thier new mainstream approach.

    Danny
