    Terri,

I'm so sorry to hear it has gone this far. I would stress to the BOE that :

    1. you were and are contrite
    2. you apologized profusely to that person for that comment
    3. you have never been in trouble before
    4. that progressive discipline would be appropriate, and appreciated because you will never repeat the offense

As for number 4, unless there was racial, sexist, or discriminatory language used, it is common to discipline employees in this manner. If other employees receive progressive discipline, it is a subtle reminder to them that you should be accorded the same treatment.

    Good luck to you.

First of all.......................{{{{{{{{{{Group Hug to ALL}}}}}}}}}}}! Thank you for caring enough about me to respond with encouraging words! Frannie, I just found your PM and the answer is girlfriend, yes!!!! Sign me up and let me roll up my sleeves and get to work ASAP!!!

Growed, you have a response from me to your pm.

Bottom line.......I've been advised to tell the Board that "of course I respect the BOE" I am a loyal employee, yada.........tell them that you should have come to the Supe and allowed her to tell you her side of it...............even tho this might save my job, tho, it feels like I am not living up to my integrity.......I don't play hypocrite well, nor am I any good at workplace politics. What I would love to tell them is to shove their job and their corrupt practices where the sun doesn't shine. There are documented misuses of her power in the local newspaper, but, so far, noone wants to touch her with a tenfoot pole. They all are turning their heads.........the day this all began for me, she drove through a school yard driveway while the lights and flashers and stop signs were going on all the buses. The normal procedure is to get the plate and report it to the police. Then, you are ticketed. Well, nothing was done to her. Other things I've heard...............it just sickens me that these people can get away with this stuff...............there was an incident where she was quoted by the local newspaper and she swore. A group of students came to her office and confronted her about it, and she turned the tables on them and lectured them............I do not want to be involved with any organization who would allow this kind of stuff to go on. I feel that we are all humans and should be treated alike. This woman makes over 100,000 a year and while the City cut jobs in our union, she received a 6,000 pay raise..................

Sunnygal I'm not one for workplace politics either. Your workplace sounds too much like the WTBTS bull$hit.

    Hugs to you.

Well, it sounds to me like the local paper might want to be at your board hearing! Can you get them an invite?!

Sunny, no doubt, you'll be reading in the news one day that she's been caught out in a terrible scandal/crime....just watch and see....

It sounds to me like your UNION needs to back you on this. That's why you pay DUES. Don't they have a procedure that outlines first warning, 2nd warning, etc. along with other disciplinary measures that must be taken before firing? Where does your Shop Steward stand on this?

This is nuts, doesn't make any sense at all.

    sorry {{{{sunnygal}}}}, this sucks

The BOE has been under scrutiny for some time now........they are always trying to catch them out.........and, they will, there is no perfect crime, and they will be caught one day. Growed and Frannie, you both have PM's from me..............I will certainly run that idea about inviting the Press by the Union reps. One thing good that came out of it..........it made me trust my own gut even more than I have lately. All along my intuition was telling me that she was going to do this, even the Union Steward apologized to me this morning when she called with the news. She said: "Terri, you were right and I was totally wrong!" I'll be on here alot this weekend, just for moral support...........thank you for being here for me, without you guys, I would be sooo alone!

Talesin..........someone told me that basically I was a pawn in all of this.........grist for their mill...........I don't matter enough politcally, and I'm not "connected" enough for them to care about what they do to me...............the Union Steward AND President were both at the fact finding meeting. The only one who even spoke up for me was the Head of Personnel, when he asked me if I was part native american myself. He is also a lawyer, I found out. No one likes him either, he's been a snake before.........but, I sent him an email thanking him for at least trying on my behalf. Then I got to talk to him today, and he told me how to approach the BOE, what to say, etc. He made it clear on the phone that he felt badly for me and that he knew it was totally unfair what was happening. I've told the Union Steward that I plan on suing if I get dismissed. To me it is part of my personal integrity that is being questioned here. Yes, the person I thought was a friend, is an EX-JW.........with a twisted ego. I contacted friends of color who have known me for years, and asked them if they'd be willing to write letters in my behalf, and they said absolutely, no problem.
