No, that was a couple of weeks before. Pretty much all my work is in Scotland.
I was visiting some of the Hebridean Isles.
It was a beautiful trip.
Best wait until we have more buy-in for the Renaissence Festival, before ya go lashing out for that kilt (unless you want to wear one to the Dinner-Dance, that is).
(Edited, coz I've run out of posts, to add): I haven't heard the word "soz" for ages - LOL.
For those wondering it means "sorry".
Hell it would be neat just to have one. I know my wife has a thing for scotsmen anyway, so a bit o' tartan could get me a little highland "Och Aye Da Noo" (I have no idea what it means, but it sounds like it could be referring to the ol' one two). About how much does the whole garb cost?
As far as the "dinner dance"... didnt know dancing was gonna be involved. People can never tell if I'm drunk or dancing.
Wife: "Are you drunk?"
Me: "No, I'm dancing."
Or (as has actually happened on another occasion):
Wife: "Are you dancing?"
Me: "No, I'm drunk"
I guess I had best just get drunk in the first place... that way if I end up dancing at least I won't remember it. Sure, others may, and may even post pictures on the board, but dag nabbit at least I wont remember it.

I think the plan is to go dancing after the Saturday meal (when our stomachs are engourged ).
"Och aye, the noo" means:
"oh yes, just now".
The whole rig out is usually quite expensive, but it's not necessary to have the whole lot (like the buttoned jackets, etc.). You'd be best PM'ing BigTex, as he seems to know where to get it, over there. Last year I understand he hired the whole rig, and looked very dashing in it, I must say.
Drunk is as drunk does!!!
LOL
Yes...there will be dancing.
If y'all want to go to the renfest, you can count me in. It's held near a the small town of Waxahachie. (don't even try to say it unless you know how).

I couldn't get the "official" page to open...but there's a glance for your review.

That sounds a lot like an order...

Waxahachie??? My wife waxed her "hachie" once... it looked really painful.

It's not an order. With or without you there will be dancing. Now, if I'm not mistaken, our lovely Xena will be among those dancing.
Does that suddenly change your perspective on the dancing?
Lisa
p.s. it is painful
Point the way to the dance floor. Actually I have never danced in a public place before. Might need some pointers from whoever is willing.

(I'm guessing on that last one -- Big Tex rented his full formal regalia from Scotland Forever, and I think that's the site, and he bought his last one at www.sportkilt.com.) I think he looks dashing in anything, but I'm also highly prejudiced!
Princess, I am really looking forward to meeting you too! Your parents are delightful, and I'm sure you are too. Good luck on getting anyone up at 6:00 a.m. (usually they're just toddling off to bed at that time) at The Bradford! However, I'll be glad to show you the direction to run -- there's a nice historic neighborhood nearby that you'll enjoy and lots of people who live and work in the area go jogging so you will have company.
Big Tex and I have been to the Renaissance Fair once, and it's pretty cool! NOT within walking distance of the Bradford, but a nice day trip. Kilts are most definitely appropriate.
Nina
That renaissance thing sounds like fun. I think Steve would be quite dashing in a kilt but I don't think there is a chance in hell of getting him in one. He's pretty much a shorts and t-shirt kind of guy, unless it's cold and then it's Levis and a t-shirt. I don't think it's going to be cold.

Oh come on. I'm sure SOMEONE will run say five or six miles with me. Of course it's possible I might be feeling a bit low that morning and could be persuaded to skip the run.
Any suggestions for what type of clothing to bring? How do people dress for the dinner?
