Sabin: The Borg never talks about the person being kind/honest/loving etc it's all about the show of things that they do in the cong. It's so sad.

This is so true. They focus on all of these performance issues in the organization and "spiritual" qualities. What about things like premarital counseling, where someone more experienced really talks to a young couple about things like children, finances, conflict resolution, etc., you know, the things that real people actually deal with in a marriage. It's hard to talk about things like sex or what one's proclivities might be (or be thought to be since no real experience often exists) with a chaperone hanging around your every move. Witnesses have so many things against them when going into a marriage. My wife and I are soooooo fortunate that we survived together. Our attitude of perseverance and being willing to challenge ourselves to grow and my need to cut through drama and to be honest really helped us to stay the course and work through things. The cult gave us NOTHING to help us. It has survived and prospered despite them, not because of them.

Haven't read through al the posts yet but will say this : The GB are pimps in every sense of the word as in for relationships and spiritual matters, all about appearances and control. Think I'll be ordering some Cialis.

I would consider marrying an MS except I've met someone I'm interested in and they're not a complete moron with a shit job, so.... no.

I'd say it' all part of a control mechanism to keep up with the over-righteous Borg mentality about saying only to marry an MS. Some of those MS can be the biggest douchebags. Whereas some of the non-MS brother are the ''kindest, loving'' people as mentioned earlier. Pathetic and sad, yes to say the least.

It sounds like the daughters have critical thinking skills. They are not going to be fooled into marrying an indoctrinated power hungry guy.

The mother is on a losing battle.

Me and the wife almost got in a heated argument about this while I was sitting with her during the last regional where they pitched only marrying a male with privileges in the hall. ...and if he didn't have privileges, ask yourself why. It was pitched as part of a letter from the governing body.

She really didn't like my caricature of it as the governing body pimping out the sisters.

Maybe try and spin it as the Governing Body telling young JW men that unless they're MSs, they won't get laid. :smirk:
