Your just wrong, flat out wrong.

For example the cases in NZ and Australia have everything to do with their response, and nothing to do with the weather.

    Just stop

2+2 It is hoped that infected people will be immune in future. It is not “known” for a fact because the virus has only been around a few months. We will find out. Some viruses don’t confer immunity very long after infection. If this Coronavirus doesn’t then we are in even deeper trouble than we currently are planning on. Let’s hope people are immune after infection! The alternative doesn’t bear thinking about.

The summer immunity in the northern hemisphere is highest in August (I’ve been reading about it) so presumably the converse is true and that’s the part of the winter when it will hit Australia the hardest too.

If “herd immunity” through mass infection was such a grand idea then why are other countries not advocating it?

If controlling the spread of the virus is impossible without closing our economy then how come South Korea and others have managed it?

South Korea has had testing and tracking in place for years. Every other country is way behind. Testing will be part of helping gather data that will allow decisions to be made to relax the rules but it will take time to ramp up testing.

Nobody is 'advocating' herd immunity it is just a fact that without a vaccine we will end up in a position where herd immunity is a reality. You are behaving as if the British government proposed doing nothing except letting herd immunity deal with it.

Vaccines are over a year away and treatment options at the moment are not promising. The UK policy of social distancing to flatten the curve, massive boosting of NHS resources, supporting business and workers and shielding the vulnerable is as good as it gets. Give a bit of credit where it is due.

Like Cofty said, You say it as the UK government has done nothing in response but throw hands and shout “herd immunity!” and see how it unfolds. The UK response in reality is huge, immense and unprecedented.

I was reiterating that epidemiologists in Australia still speak of herd immunity working in our favour, and it would seem Australias tactics are working currently. That same monstrous prediction Boris made our very top experts still speak of

A month ago I said the UK policy of delay was a disaster and they should follow the example of South Korea. Cofty you accused me of “fear mongering”.

At that time South Korea had a total of 53 deaths and the UK had only 5 deaths.

In the meantime the UK pursued their disastrous policy of delay and gave up testing and tracing.

Now South Korea has a total of 200 deaths and the UK has over 7978 deaths (excluding deaths outside hospitals) and the prime minister is in hospital.

How much more evidence will it take to demonstrate that the UK policy is a complete disaster? Italy was the first country in Europe to be hit hard, and they warned the rest of Europe to act immediately. Instead the UK government delayed, and we will end up with a death toll higher than Italy as a result. A tragedy that was completely avoidable if the UK had heeded the warning.

It is simply not true that the UK policy is “as good as it gets”. The UK response has been utterly abysmal and we are on track to have the worst death rate in the whole of Europe. The idea that only Koreans can master the art of testing and tracing is nonsense too. Germany has tested many more people than the UK and they have far fewer deaths as a result. The fact that South Koreas have practice and are better a testing and tracing than us means that we should copy them as fast as we can, not throw our hands up in the air and pursue a strategy that ensures higher deaths than other countries.

SK has ben in the business of testing and tracing for many years. Everybody else was starting from square one. Germany has the science labs with Roche. Like every other country we are playing catch up. We will copy them as far and as fast as resources become available. Our death rates will no doubt be comparable to many other similar countries.

    Stop being so bloody hysterical.

Phizzy anybody could refute or provide important context to everyone of those points, but if you think that is not totally dishonest meme there is no point.

The UK response has been as good as it gets under the circumstances.

As an observer, for most US citizens, any elected President is worshipped like a God at that given time.

Yes, keen observation. There has definitely been a move towards Satanism in recent years.
