Is fighting illegal immigration tantamount to anti immigration? Also is there a big difference in being anti illegal immigration and being quiet about and doing the same thing but being outspoken?

The current administration is not "anti-immigration." Just anti-muslim immigration. Both so-called travel bans were restrained judicially based on statements made by Trump during the campaign and after. There is no doubt that the intent was to keep muslim people out of the country. Clearly there was an effort to put a religious test on immigration.

No one here is suggesting that a blind eye be turned toward illegal immigration.

ctrwtf15 hours agoJust pondering the hypocrisy of the Trump administration's Muslim Ban. On St Paddy's day Trump, Bannon, Kelly and good ol Kelly Anne Conway (nee Fitzpatrick) all descended from the arguably poorest immigrants to wash ashore of America, have the nerve to ban the latest wave of poor immigrants

Not to mention that everyone knows that the Irish were the original terrorists. ISIS can't hold a lit stick of dynamite to the IRA.

So the "ban" applies to all Muslim countries?

You lost the argument when you said "muslim ban" Its nothing of the sort.

It doesn't have to apply to all Muslim countries. The message and intent are clear. You're not welcome here. As if the point needs to be underscored, FBI statistics show the uptick in crimes against muslims. I live and work in NY and not a day goes by that these folks aren't attacked and or treated badly.

My point from the original post remains. All of these folks from the administration have ancestors that were once hated and derided for their religion and customs. It's hypocritical, shallow and plays to the worst biases for them to insist on a travel ban.

And further, this travel ban was supposed to be in place to put together more vetting for immigrants. Why not just put the tighter vetting requirements in force without the ban? Why not? Because they have to keep a stupid campaign promise, that's why. A campaign promise that stirred up the racist bias of the fly-over state deplorables.

Not surprised that right wing Kontorovich would write an op-ed such as this.
