You mean..............you don't get your monthly cheques? If not, you'd better make a

complaint at the head office, and by the way................. good luck!

Who gets the money? Well, I would assume the GB members have stock in the Corporations...don't know if those pay dividends or not. Having said that...the real golden goose for the GB is POWER...power is more important than money. PO's CO's DO's BO's and GB members have POWER!

Power over what. A few million people. No politics to use the power on. Could they be hiding the money so they can bribe their way out of things "During the Great Tribulation". I thought money wouldn't be worth anything. Are they building a secret Bomb shelter somewhere? Maybe thats how they "KNOW" they will survive the big A. 950 million a year? or is it worth 950 million? That does'nt seem like much really, but it would make a nice Christmas bonus for the employees volunteers.

    Been,

Remember, these guys are absolute gods at Bethel...and yes...power over a few million is still real power. And it's addicting.

Maybe they are building bomb shelters....When I made a tour of the Patterson compound the guide took me through the underground tunnel system. Of course Patterson was only half built then but the tunnels were complete as far as I could see. There were what seemed like miles of tunnels and I was shown a large excersise room and I believe some other rooms and offices underground. They said the tunnels are for traversing from one building to the next in bad weather.

What is a monumental amount of real estate worth? Once it is known that this religion is a load of dingo's kidneys, what will happen to all the Halls that donated money has purchased?

They and the land they rest on will be converted.

What about the prime real estate in many countries?

    Converted.

Into what? These are actual assets. The monetary value is staggeringly large. Maybe these guys are surprised that everyone has played along for so long with them? Maybe they figured the generation change would be the last straw and they could finally retire? Maybe the very gullibility and trust they have indoctrinated into Witnesses has become their own worst enemy?

How else can you explain the atrocious responses to issues like Associating to the UN/DPI for 10 years? They have to figure out a way to dismantle the ungainly beast they created without getting their asses sued for every dime.

I was 6 years old when I first knew about JWs....I played with the little witness girl next door and her family wanted to take me to the KH with them. My Mother had put her foot down on that one and said a loud NO! After that, the little girl and I didn't see each other much. My Mother didn't want me to play with her. I saw her again when I became a witness and we both were married. My children and I stayed with her family for an out of town convention. I know this is OT but what I am getting at is 99% of JWs are really good people dispite the WTS and it's GB

How else can you explain the atrocious responses to issues like Associating to the UN/DPI for 10 years? Your above comments certainly make sense. I visited the farm and printing houses back in the, ummm b4 1960, and it was a behive of commercialism making a good show. At least, that was my take as a small child. The objective was clearly to build the organization/corporation into an entity deserving of respect, adoration, and very obviously, a power to be recconed with. Made me proud at the time to feel part of it all. From then on, I had questions, questions about the true objectives of this "godly organization". Then as I grew into a teenager, I experienced more than 2 bethelites return home (I lived in a small California town) who were soon disfellowshipped. No one would tell me why, other than 'they must have fallen under satan's control'. Wow! what sense that made. NOT! I determined the monies were going to nothing more than creating a monster of an organized religeon which cared more for their show of growth in members, real estate, and self-percieved righteousness. So, Who gets the money? Certainly not the publishers, it is their job to give. The machine gets it.

Somebodylovesme asked about monetary allowances. Last I heard, each bethelite gets $100 a month from the society. It used to be $15, but the IRS motivated them to come into the 19th century.

In addition to that, bethelites get room and board. A bed of their own in a room they share with another bethelite, three meals a day and laundry, housekeeping and medical care. If a bethelite is injured on the job, he is sent "home." No long term disabilty for them, no benefits, no social security benefits (they were not "employed.")

The members of the GB have apartments that are much nicer than the rooms the factory workers live in. Unless they go public with their doubts ala Ray Franz, they are set for life. They eat the same food, but they can have it delivered to their rooms. They get housekeeping and laundry services. Frankly, I don't know if they get the $100 a month; they probably do. They have friends who are more than happy to see to it that their material wants and needs are attended to. They have access to the Watchtower fleet of cars that the average bethelite does not have access to. The average bethelite relies on good old NYC Rapid Transit to get them wherever they need to be. It is not likely that a bethelite will have his own car unless he is being helped by family and friends because owning a car in NYC is expensive

The GB travels around the world to visit assemblies and branch offices and are treated like royalty. Under WT doctrine they ARE royalty.

Think about all the trivial little decisions that you have to make every day just to run your life. The GB has NONE of that, but they'll tell you that YOU aren't doing enough.

I believe that there is probably some dummy entity that bills the Watchtower and gets paid, either more than what they are actually entitled to, or for goods/services never actually received by the Watchtower. The principals of this entity are most likely the heirs of whomever took over the financial reins of this cult following Russell.
