I have no love loss for the GB or religion and this is not an apologist attempt. In fact I hate the religion and the GB. But I watch night after night young kids who's minds have been corrupted by the propaganda and dogma that modern college's are teaching them.

Tony Morris said a while back the more prestigious the college the more danger it is to your kids. I believe he is correct. The days of a college teaching facts have been overturned into now teaching

    Lesbian culture

    Politicizing Beyoncé

    The sociology of Miley Cyrus.

    Astrobiology.

    The Art of Walking

    How to Stage a Revolution

I did not make these up and its only a very small fraction of the crazy crap parents are spending good money on to have their kids indoctrinated in stupid. Common sense has went out the window in college's today also the places that are supposed to be a place where all ideas are presented and discussed is now a place where only some ideas are allowed and free speech does not apply to ideas the children do not want to hear. Radical people like Bill Ayres who actually is a terrorist and used bombs to kill and destroy is a professor in Chicago.

Tony Morris was correct. College is a huge danger to your child. Its now not only a waste of money but it can teach your child to be intolerant and cruel and to be even more entitled. Many parents today daily dip their kids in purell while strapping on helmets and crash pads for them to go play in their bedroom. They are told in many cases they are special and go play in sports where no one wins and no points kept because you are all winners. This is now carried on to college where now a degree in many cases is not worth the paper its printed on. I hate to say it but you had it right Tony.

Tony said that because he knew a good college education, the kind you rightly lament, would often be the first step to leaving religion, especially the WT. And for him, that would not be “good” for your kids.

You are agreeing with his final conclusion, but for completely different reasons.

That being said, I think there are still some non-politicized, decent programs remaining, mostly in STEM fields. If the leftist mentality takes hold in these areas, then yes, college would be a complete waste. The cost is barely worth it now.

American history and civics are glossed over in high school and then the young minds are corrupted by socialist professors!

I really don't understand the "college" issue and the polluting of the students' minds. Conservatives and many religious organizations, including JW's, have a very negative view of a college degree.

I personally think that's stupid reasoning.

I graduated from a good State University in the Northeast USA, in a typically liberal State. Later got a Masters degree. I NEVER recalled ANY real political stuff or anything to attack my faith in the courses I took. NEVER.

IMO, it's all about which type of degree you choose and which elective courses you choose.

I don't understand if you stay on a math/science/business focus and choose electives that are politically neutral that you can somehow get affected by evil.

I think I took enough Math, Chemistry, Accounting, Finance and Engineering courses that there was not a lot of "crap" where personal opinion is involved. Of some of the required liberal arts electives needed, I generally included numerous language courses in Spanish and French. Maybe a couple of Psychology courses were as close to "liberal" as I ever got.

At the Masters level, there was virtually no option to take any liberal arts stuff when on a technical path. 10 courses needed, and they tell you basically what you have to take.

If this stuff pollutes your mind and destroys your faith, then, well, that's ones opinion.

On the other hand, get some liberal arts degree or go to some liberal arts college. Major in "Wonders of the World" or "Meaning of the Universe" or some other nonsense and all bets are off. You will end up with professors having long hair, wearing dark sunglasses, dressed like hippies, sitting on their desks with their legs crossed and looking at the ceiling when they talk.

    It's your choice.

As an additional note, I had more liberal arts "opinion" classes in high school where there were more required courses than I ever had in college. In college, I had much more flexibility in what I chose to study.

Universities are actually conglomerations of various schools and colleges. Most of the larger ones have multiple campuses that are often miles apart, so it's something of a misnomer to speak of "college" in generalities.

Your experience will vary drastically depending upon your field of study and I can assure you that there are plenty of conservative students attending.

If social sciences are not your cup of tea, go to a school of engineering instead.

Yeah, when I went to college (as an active JW, no less), I never saw any of the “sinful” stuff the WTS morally-panicked about.

The only truth I ever heard out of tony Morris was when he recommended Jameson Irish Whiskey to a complete stranger. He was right , for 18 yr old whiskey at $139 a bottle , you can’t go wrong.

to have their kids indoctrinated in stupid.

.....and what happens when their kids sit in on JWS meetings ?

they get indoctrinated with lies, fear, ignorance and stupidity..

This whole post is full of biased stupidity in that yes certain problematic things happen in Universities and Colleges but the fact remains that higher education eventually promotes and creates a better living experiences to us humans.

Hypocrisy comes in when fat ass Tony and his other fat ass obese GB members will end up in hospital getting health treatments for their aliments to keep them alive.

Or how about all that electrical equipment into $1milloin+ which the WTS bought to set up their video broadcasting ???

Most religoius cults demean education because it poses a threat to their power and control which they are trying to both create and sustain over people.

The threat to them is knowledge

Fear and ignorance can control people to be sure , Universities and Colleges dont have that to offer to humanity.

    @TD ...

You are correct. Technically, universities do not award degrees.

Depending on your major, you will be "attending" a university, but the specific college within the university awards the degree. You may go to the school of business, school of engineering, school of law, whatever. You may attend a university but you are awarded a degree by a college.
