The Gospel According to Jehovah's Witnesses

Mark Jones explains the Watchtower gospel much better than I can.

"The good news that Christians in the first century preached was the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ; that all those who believed in him were saved and reconciled to God through the death of his son.

Unfortunately Jehovah’s Witnesses) have been led to believe it is something bizarrely different. The good news according to the Watchtower Society is as follows:

The THE GOOD NEWS (according to Jehovah’s Witnesses)

"The gospel or good news is not a simple idea that can be expressed in one sentence.”

Michael the archangel came to earth as a Jehovah’s Witness called “Jesus” and died on a pole so that their governing body and 143,992 other specially chosen Jehovah’s Witnesses can go to heaven. 1.

3 days later, Michael (aka Jesus) was reincarnated as a hologram who looked completely different to the original Michael (aka Jesus) 2

Then for a long time he did nothing until 1919 when he chose the Watchtower society publishing company to be his channel of communication on earth. 3 He fed false information to the Watchtower leaders over the decades “as a cleansing” to sift out “those serving a date”. This is known as “new light”. 4

Since 1914 Michael (aka Jesus) has been sitting on the edge of his throne waiting for the day when Jehovah (his dad) tells him and the 144,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses in heaven (who are now kings up there by the way ruling over the earth) to slaughter everyone who didn't become a Jehovah’s Witness - men, women, children, babies, the disabled… you know, like a holocaust?

"Only Jehovah's Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil." - Watchtower 1989 Sep 1 p.19

Just as Noah and his God-fearing family were preserved in the ark, survival of individuals today depends on their faith and their loyal association with the earthly part of Jehovah's universal organization." - Watchtower 2006 May 15 p.22 "

And the only way to survive all of this is to obey the 8 leaders currently living in New York on Jehovah’s Witness donations writing ever changing doctrine about the end of the world. Because this “good news” also includes the teaching that Michael (aka Jesus) will also slaughter Jehovah’s Witnesses who didn't obey the 8 governing body member’s every word or those who didn't go out door knocking when they were suffering from cancer or infirm.

One of their more unlikable governing body members ranting about the slaughter or non members… and actual members who don't obey him enough.

The good news includes that the United Nations is going to ban religion and hunt down Jehovah’s Witnesses. Every other religion will go “Huh, ok” and go with it. The pope will hang up his hat, ISIS will put down their weapons and Christians will just stop worshiping their god. Why? Because the UN told them to.

Then, Michael will swoop down to earth as an old man holding a scepter along with some angels (who are the reincarnated governing body) and slaughter everybody who isn't a Jehovah’s Witness. The police will try to shoot Michael but the bullets will pass right through him.

After this Jehovah (Michael’s dad) will get the birds to eat the rotting corpses of non-Jehovah’s Witnesses while the survivors dismantle all of the buildings (by hand) and live in a socialist utopia where everyone lives in a tree house, owns an exotic animal and passes fruit to each other for all eternity.

I’m not making this up. This is legit what Jehovah’s Witness believe.

[Actual video shown to members at their 2019 convention.]

In short - “god is going to kill you. But he might (might) spare you if you obey the 8 governing body members of Jehovah’s Witnesses and agree to peddle their writings door to door for free.”

Can you find in the bible where Jesus or his apostles taught any of that?

Cults tend not to tell your their entire beliefs in one go like I just did because if they did you’d likely see it as a mad doomsday cult that destroys families or something.

You know, like a mad doomsday cult that destroys families?

In addition, people who are fortunate enough to make it into Jesus' 1000 year reign over the earth will have to clean up the carnage of Armageddon.

They will also have to reach moral perfection by the end of the 1000 years and pass a final test by Satan. If not, Jehovah will annihilate them.

Even after they pass the "final test," they (like Adam in Eden) will always still be capable of choosing to disobey Jehovah in some way. If they do, Jehovah will annihilate them.

So trying to attain to perfection and knowing that there will never be a point at which their salvation is 100% secure is what the Watchtower calls "paradise."

The 'Gospel' is subject to change for JW's, due to 'new light' per se.

I was saw the term "Yahweh sect" used to describe Jehovah's Witnesses and other sects that concentrate their belief system on the Old Testament. Makes sense.

The new light doctrine is nonsense. I explained the reason why in one of my very first posts upon joining this group.

A brief synopsis of my post -

You have a candle 🕯️ then you decide that you need to replace that candle with a new one. So you snuff out that candle flame and toss the candle in the dustbin before you set up your brand new candle 🕯️.

After a period of time you decide that you need to replace the candle for a new one. Out goes the old 🕯️ candle and you bring in a new one.

Think about this. Have these changes resulted in new light? Yes. Has the light become brighter? No. Because you only ever have one candle 🕯️ sitting on the table. You can keep swapping your old candle for a new candle but the light never gets brighter.

This is something I posted after an obvious JW wrote something disingenuous about the Russia ban on quora. It's absolutely swamped with them lately writing all sorts of rubbish but that post by Marc is brilliant.

Anyway I countered a Quora post claiming JWs are law abiding with the following:

Jehovah's witnesses do not obey the laws of the land.

    Which laws?

They violate the human rights of their members

The right to freedom of thought and freedom of religion.

    The right to free association.

    The right to family relationships.

All the above are prevented by their shunning policy. If a minor is baptised and decided they no longer believe as an adult they will loose their friends, family and whole support network. Because witnesses are forbidden to associate with non witnesses (outside of work etc) they loose everything.

The right of children to be safe from sexual predators and for adults to report to the authorities instances of child abuse even if there are NOT TWO WITNESSES which their governing body demands there be. (Interestingly if someone damages Watchtower property it is reported despite there being not two witnesses).

    Reply To which he responded:

Wow what a load of misinformation! Where does this stuff come from???

I have provided you with two official reports of Watchtowers abuse of its members. The Australian Royal Commission (there are transcripts and you can watch all the proceedings including Governing Body member Geoff Jackson testify). And the recent Norway Ruling on their shunning policy and the 'two witness rule' which is required in order for Jehovah's witness elders to report child abuse. Watchtower has refused to hand over a database of over 22,000 child abusers within their ranks. Please see the Candice Conti case, the first one that didn't slap a non disclosure order on the victim, which they'd quietly been doing for decades. Please just Google child abuse and Jehovah's witnesses. You will be overwhelmed

    Then he replied:

confidential documents contain reports of any alleged incidents regarding a broad range of sexual misconduct and is not limited to sexual abuse of minors.

    The records include the following:

    • The secret Database:
    • Individuals who have only been accused of child abuse whereas the charges have not been substantiated.
    • Individuals where allegations were made on the basis of so-called “repressed memories,” the validity of which many authorities challenge.
    • Individuals who have been accused of abusing children before becoming Jehovah’s Witnesses.
    • Individuals who have never been baptized Witnesses, but whose names we are obliged to keep because of their association with the Witnesses. (An example of this would be a non-Witness father or step-father who is accused by his Witness children or step-children of abusing them.)
    • Individuals who may or may not be considered child abusers, depending upon the jurisdiction where they live (for example, a 16-year-old boy who had sexual relations with a consenting 15-year-old girl).
    • An individual who was guilty of voyeurism.
    • An individual who was involved with “sexting.”
    • An individual who was involved with child pornography.
    • And, to be sure, individuals actually guilty of child abuse.

Those allegations may include anyone who has walked into a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses; any individual who has studied the Bible with us in prison; and every person out of the community that associates with us where we've become aware that there is a child abuse allegation. In each case, we have followed it up and recorded it. That's the reason for those numbers. And, without details regarding these incidents, the claims about the number of alleged perpetrators as it relates to sexual abuse of minors is meaningless.

As director of the Office of Public Information, J. R. Brown, told BBC Panorama, "We do not apologize for keeping such records here in the United States. Apart from being legally needed, they have been very helpful to us in our efforts to protect the flock from harm.

As for the Washington thing it revolved around ONE named person who eventually went to prison. They SPECULATED that it may have been sooner.

And this will continue and we expect it:

    Matthew 10:16–18 NASB

16 “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be as wary as serpents, and as innocent as doves. 17 But be on guard against people, for they will hand you over to the courts and flog you in their synagogues; 18 and you will even be brought before governors and kings on My account, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

That quote in the o/p just about nailed it . Quite right.

Why didn’t we see it like that when we were in? Actually I did have worries about the morality of Armageddon, but I smothered them and pushed them to the back of my mind. I guess I was not ready to face it then.
