    What about THIS, J~

James 2:24- You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

2:26- As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

so--Doubting Thomas--what is your position with regard to the watchtower / jehovahs witnesses ? or out ? left or kicked out ?

    Doubting Thomas,

    Jesus taught everyone would be judged according to his works (Mathew 5:22, 29; 7:2; 12:32; 23:12; 25:31-46; 26:52; Luke 6:38) (Revelation 22:11, 12)

These verses rule out GRACE which apostle Paul taught as "his gospel." (Romans 2:16)

If GRACe is true, Jesus would NOT have said:

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Mathew 7:13, 14)

Later Jesus explained “narrow gate” as simple life with more importance on spirituality, with what is just enough for the sustenance—may be what is enough for one generation. (Mathew 8:20; 16:24) Interestingly, Jesus was not punishment-oriented: To the question ‘What would be the reward if one renounces something in the interest of God,’ Jesus said: Such ones “will get a hundred times as much at the renewal of all things and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.” (Mathew 19:27-30)

True Christianity is what Jesus taught. What Paul taught was the fulfillment of what Jesus foretold in Mathew 13:24-30)

What Paul taught was the fulfillment of what Jesus foretold

Not at all. Paul’s writings came first, in which he knows very little about Jesus at all - not much beyond saying he was ‘sacrificed’ (instituted the ‘memorial’ and then killed). All of the more specific stories about Jesus, including almost all statements attributed to Jesus - including the 4 ‘gospels’ - were written later. Acts, including its ‘account’ of Paul’s ‘conversion’ that contradicts Paul’s version in Galatians, was also written later.

    stan- neither.

Just don't go to Zoom! So I guess I don't GO anymore!

    (They've dumbed it WAY down)

  • DoubtingThomas

We're judged tru our works with GRACE.

    (Whoever she is)

I think that this says it nicely . Hence we are saved by faith to do good works .The WT pushes this idea that salvation is earned because it helps them demand total obedience to the Org. It suits their agenda to keep people scared that they aren't " good enough " if they don't do everything that they are told to do . Jan

Abraham1 having looked at the verse that you questioned in the interlinear 2 Tim : 3-l6 l feel that it can support what you say is the wrong translation. I won't say that taking it alone it does support it but it could .

As I have said many times every single so-called change the NWT makes has been done by some other translation at some point. Colossians 1 might be the exception with the 'other' bit even there re reference bible has clear brackets. Jehovah in the NT been done by MANY translations. John 1:1 be modified by several others etc. Judges 19 change of 'my own house' to 'gods house' the latin Vulgate did that.
