Dinner plans canceled because "I need to talk to the elders". Huh?

Thanks for the comments. I consider this a blessing actually. We have been fading for the past year and this situation just accelerated our final curtain for the Watchtower. My wife, who was a very tough nut to crack, is disgusted and is happy to leave this chapter in our life behind. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ˜‡

After standing you up he has the cheek to say: "you need to talk to the elders"?

You should have said: "you need to have a talk with yourself mate".

We were also invited out to dinner to catch up with some old friends.

10 minutes after getting there we get a call and the guy says that they cannot come. I said it's ok we can try again another time. He says no that I need to "talk to the elders".

Apparently these people are spreading rumors about some offense committed without my knowledge.

Darkknight757, these folks were complete jerks. Hope the dinner was good, at least.

The best kind of dinner that you can have with Jehovah's Witnesses is one where they don't show up.

do you recall the biblical account of the man who prepared a feast and the self righteous ones didn't turn up? He then invited the blind the lame the hungry off the streets to come and partake. If in your case these have to ask permission to eat with you go ask others.

Incidentally our handicapped daughter invited a number of jw to an evening and one family turned up, another was ridiculously late, the rest didn't. Their loss not ours not yours.

Dinner in fact was awesome! Mediterranean food is our favorite. Deboned chicken and a garlic and butter sautΓ©ed shrimp. That, along with a nice reflective walk afterward turned out to be a nice evening.

It looks like today that the wife blocked us on Facebook. It's funny that everyone is shunning us and I don't get to know what awesome thing I did to get treated this way.πŸ€—

Sorry they did that to you. They don't deserve your company. They are not your friends and I would let them know that. If they can be rude, I believe you have the same right. Go get em!

You had a awesome dinner with your wife. She is your friend. Enjoy each other! Life is good!

I can't believe how understanding you are. It's one thing to decide that you are suddenly unsavoury characters and that they need the elders ok before they eat with you - quite another to decide this ten minutes into the dinner engagement. Rude is not the word.
