. I find myself agreeing with George Carlin when it comes to voting. We really don't have a choice. The government was bought and paid for a long time ago, and we're just fooling ourselves if we think we have a real choice. It's just an illusion of choice.

UC, I concur. We are not cynical, rather, we are realistic. The Dream is over.

That's what I wanted lurkers and new-to-politics folk to see. Done. : ))

Honestly, it is quite a scary thought to think of Trump handling the US's nuclear codes. God help us. Having said that, the other side is offering an old angry socialist, and an annoying feminist (yet the GOP is always the "extremist" one).

Although Trump's rhetoric is quite harsh, him being the clown that he is, I disagree with the idea that the policy of bringing illegal immigration under control is an extremist view, its not..as most countries in the world have an immigration policy to maintain some level of control. Also, protecting unborn babies is not really an extremist view either.

Having said that.. perhaps JWs have it right in that govs are just not very successful at delivering anything right. Perhaps it is with reason that conservatives argue to keep gov as small and out of the way as possible.

Wow, I can't believe I'm talking about politics, I feel like I just sinned. lol

Jimmy Carter was the best POTUS in my lifetime. Reagan was a puppet, and will go down in history with Reaganomics and the era of greed, which is the downfall of that used-to-be-great nation, the USA.

I remember the buzz in the organization when Reagan first ran for Presidential election in the 80s. He had declared his belief in the Bible and end-times prophecy and tensions were building between the US and Soviet Russia.

Man did the JWs get hyper-excited about the nearness of the fulfillment of prophecy.

Over 30 years later, the hyper-excitement starts all over again...

It's only my opinion, true dat. *smiles* But check out his record after his presidency. I was not a JW, and around during the Iran hostage crisis, and he was 'grace under pressure'. To be honest, I am a great admirer of Carter. It's okay with me if you disagree.

Edit: darn, my 2nd para. didn't post.

He is recognized as an humanitarian, and has done so much good. Imagine if he had been elected, instead of Reagan? Reaganomics is what started the depression we are now in (don't let the economist fool you; it's only fiddling with the numbers that says 'recession', where are the jobs?).

I dunno, I just think that it *might* be a better world, if it was run by Jimmy Carter's standards. xx

JWs have it right in that govs are just not very successful at delivering anything right.

As opposed to who? If you can supply tangible evidence of someone else who can do it better, then go ahead and i'll vote for that person. Otherwise government is all we have to keep things running even if it's not perfect.

Also, protecting unborn babies is not really an extremist view either.

I would say that forcing a woman to see a pregnancy through, only because she carries a blob of fertilized cells that will eventually result in a baby, is an extreme view. Also an extreme view is to do this, knowing ahead of time the baby will be unwanted at birth.

I wish we could have a webpage that represented a white board, where we could write all the world events that were definetly ...the beginning of the end... From my memory alone:

    Cold War

    Financial crash

    Berlin Wall

    Waco

    9/11

    Afghanistan war

    Iraq War

    Tsunami's

    Financial Crash

    Obama

    Gay Marriage

    Putin

    North Korea

    Rise of China

    Isis

If one imagined a God that loved all humans equally and cared just as much about the Palestinian/Nigerian/Malaysian child as the American or British, it seems odd that his representatives on earth, his 7 million followers...... Only seem interested in global events affecting USA/Europe. It is so small minded! So dumb!

A JW with a cart recently told me how the Chinese ministry field had deteriorated due to their new found interest in materialism. I asked if he was not happy to learn that the human beings in China were rising from abject poverty to a western quality of life, health and wealth? He said he was but they were materialistic! I asked what he meant by this? I asked him if he had s car, nice clothes, a home and holidays? He changed the topic.

It's interesting to see that list from the perspective of a JW and a now rational normal person. What I struggle to fathom is, I remember being an ignorant 18yr old JW with healthy doubt and questions, but led by fear. Now 20 years on, in such a small time frame, we have as a society become so much more informed. Surely modern day JW's are doubting more than ever!?

I must admit however, even I wonder if Trump may be the beginning of the end of the world.....

Governments turning on Religion is nothing but a pipe-dream based on a misinterpretation of Revelation's Wild Beast.
