Ah yes, the Patterson renovation project, the "Educational Center", (deceptively named such to get around a technicality), thereafter to be sold at a higher value. How happifying!

Ron Sharp was only 6 years old when he was baptized in 1954. The reason being his parents were told that it would be 50 years from 1914 and "It could be the jubilee year since god likes to do things in 50 year increments......"

Correct, the WTS has many versions for the 50th Jubilee but always only in regards to the WTS organization and its existence and future. The WTS has quietly dropped the 7,000 year creative day by the wayside since 1987, revising any mentions of it after that to thousands of years. There was a trip up at one book study where some jws were using an older version of the study book, but the conductor only baptized 3 years before this study had a newer book and had never heard of the 7,000 creative day. So he called on a brother who said it was 7,000 years long but the conductor's book said thousands of years and corrected the older brother. My husband had to explain the previous interpretation before the conductor's baptism. The next midweek meeting, it was announced that members should get the newer copy of the book so everyone would be on the same page.

Second, a study of the fulfillment of Bible prophecy and of our location in the stream of time strongly indicate that each of the creative days (Genesis, chapter 1) is 7,000 years long. It is understood that Christ’s reign of a thousand years will bring to a close God’s 7,000-year ‘rest day,’ the last ‘day’ of the creative week. (Revelation 20:6; Genesis 2:2, 3) Based on this reasoning, the entire creative week would be 49,000 years long.

How long, then, were the creative days? The Bible does not say; however, the wording of Genesis chapters 1 and 2 indicates that considerable lengths of time were involved.

The fact is, the Bible reveals that the creative “days,” or ages, encompass thousands of years.

It is not by accident that 50 years after the 1925 date that Rutherford put out was 1975, the date Fred Franz went crazy with. Both were trying to integrate the jubilee cycle into their other chronological-prophetic speculations. It's not surprising then if Splane starts going bonkers with this old idea—YAWN.

Neat Blue Dog - That calculation doesn't work.

The Israelitites entered Canaan in 1473 BCE according to the Watchower. Their Acts Study Notes state

"These 40 years run from 1513 B.C.E., the time of the Exodus, to 1473 B.C.E. when the Israelites entered the Promised Land."

The first jubilee was 49 years later in 1424 BCE. This would mean that the 70th Jubilee would be 1974 (if using 365 day years). That is, 70 x 50 years = 3,500 years. 1473 BCE + 3,500 = 1974 CE

I also wonder why the 70th Jubilee would have any signicance.

The only way they will say another Armageddon Date is if they are so totally desperate to retain members and get their money that they think it is necessary.

Having said that, I am confident that such a time of desperation will come.

I think they will shoot for 2034 eventually. They have floated the idea so often to gauge reactions, mentioning the 120 years of Noah's days before the flood in various articles where they go on to mention the last days in comparison.

The leaders of the WTS have been commercializing fear via Armageddon soon for over 130 years by its publishing endeavors.

People still believe in the bible as god's spoken word and take it as factual, so as long as that continues the WTS as an accepting market.

    My husband's theme for 2034

    No more in '34.

Genesis 6:3---120 years pronounced on the pre-flood people on earth after which god would destroy them.

    1914 + 120 = 2034
