My special specialty is being special... especially when special conventions require special specialists like me to make these special conventions even more special through my special demonstration of my special specialties among all the other special specialists in a way that is especially special.

Is this the same " special " convention where they are telling JW's to " not give up " ? As the " end " hasn't come yet ? Been out of the loop so long now I don't even care. But as the saying goes " inquiring minds want to know. " Peace out, Mr. Flipper

These are the 8 designated party conventions for 2017. They are for those who know they are special and get to go expenses paid and for those who are willing pay dearly to feel special. They are guaranteed to be blessed with a visit from a GB member. Some will be featured on JWTV.
To emphasize the exclusivity, only certain countries are invited to each convention. The countries that get invited usually only get one choice. For example the Japanese can only go to Indonesia. But some get two choices, like Russians, who can choose Indonesia or Kazakhstan. Croatians can drive to Vienna or Milan. But Americans got invited to all 8 parties.

DREAMERDUDE- Thanks for the info. So it's as corny as I thought then. It's the same old " we are a people for special possession " - or - " Jehovah's people are SO special " - or - " we are so separate from the world our shit doesn't stink ! " In other words- same old exclusivity crap. Makes me gag. JW's think they're so special- yet they aren't even a blip on the radar screen in the huge world view

I HAVE to go. My immediate beloved relatives are heavy into it: Regular Pioneers, Elders very heavily involved in the WTBTS inner workings. I'm seriously trapped in this Org.
To keep my sanity, I accentuate the 'community', hanging out with the people I care about; also, it's nice once it's all over daily, the dinner hangouts and resting comfortably at this nice hotel.
Heck, look at all the nasty crap going on in other places around the world. Life could be so much worse, so... whatever.

I curious as to how these cities were selected to have a "special" assembly. I'm guessing the JW's there are statistically known per capita for being generous contributors and that assemblies in these locations are profitable or maybe in these areas there is need of some additional indoctrination to be more generous. Either way I'm guessing there is some non "$piritual" reason these locations are being targeted.
