I'm hearing of reports that they are being asked, while on Zoom, "are you here voluntarily?" That may be a local thing, just making converstation. But if it is happening generally, it could be significant.

I was thrown out and people with good intentions suggested I sue the Watchtower. But I knew that when you attend a church it is voluntary, or supposed to be. It is more like a club not an employer. You made the decision to go freely, you leave freely. It's like buyer beware, you have to do your own due diligence.

You can connect without allowing access to camera.

I don't know if the org has nefarious reasons, but it doesn't seem unusual to have video conferencing applied this way. I'm not a fan of the cult, but I'm sure JWs like to associate and see one another. My wife has been logging on so far via phone so that she doesn't have to dress up.

I know it helps the religion to maintain control, I'm not sure they cognitively think of it that way, I think they view it as a way to associate, I think they truly believe all the way to the top that they are God's chosen people, so while actions are cultish, I doubt they see it that way.

From the outside looking in, we know it's a cult, or at least a very controlling group.

God is power and its expressed in various ways by men within religious institutions.

" Sister Smith is that yoga pants I see you wearing during this meeting and brother Smith where is your tie ? "

The host also has the option to record these meetings which may be a problem for many people.

Any of the participants can also record the meeting though from what I understand the permission of the host is needed. I'm sure anyone could think of reason they need to record the show.

My brother in law told me he just wear shirt and tie and forget that when he stand up, his shorts were at Zoom.

    Had to laugh about it.

So JW style, using a way to communicate and making rules about how to wear clothes.

There are child protection issues recording or photos being taken of children.

Domestic abuse survivors being protected from being found by their abusers.

Wonder if elders would respect people from refusing to join zoom because of these issues?

tiki order to be a dub these days one has to be totally computer savvy, and have all the hardware, software, applications, etc....what about the old ones who aren't tech wise?

Does this zoom thing come with a price other than privacy invasion and it's possible ramifications?

As for the dressing up bit, that's just crazy. Suppose you have the virus and are sick in bed in your nightshirt....and you want some entertainment in your misery so you plug going to be harassed for no knee length skirt and turtleneck? Or suit and tie?

i wonder, when this nightmare is over, how many dubs wont go to meetings anymore?

and i suppose the watchtower boys are already working up a script about all those running ahead of jehovahs chariot by saying this was start of the tribulations.
