It has also been used in the Watchtower for the JW's living now. For e.g. w15 9/15, "As God’s children, we feel truly loved because Jehovah has promised us a wonderful future. That gives genuine meaning and purpose to our life."

    or not!

This excerpt from the WT illustrates a trend of the JW religion today. Apart from a promised utopian paradise, it has become a metaphorical security blanket for those unfortunate people who for one reason or another are unable to cope with ordinary life. The appeal of such language, the flattering notion of being one of "God's children" and being "truly loved" is a balm for the lost and lonely.

The GB promote this sugary sense of infantile security not because it is true but because they know full well that it enhances their grip on believer's minds.

eyeuse, there are a number of Koine Greek words for child, teknon being the common one. The WT use of the word is the same as in the Bible, no specialised meaning.

menrov - "...In other words, it is not enough to please God before the 1000 years, now also a long road ahead to please God even more... a never ending struggle..."

LongHairGal - "...that is the one thing that always bothered me when I was active in the JW religion..."

    Hmph.

Makes God sound like a bipolar spouse who won't take their meds...

...no matter how well you did yesterday, everything gets reset the next morning, and you have to bust your hump to "please" them...

...plus the rules constantly change with no advance warning.

I’m not so sure this is Nu-lite. These idiots just use nice sounding phrases as part of their carrot and stick routine.

It’s in the realm of, “No one has more Holy Spirit than another.” Yet we know who really has the Holy Spirit, don’t we...

I’ve had new light two times in my life.

We originally had incandescent light bulbs. That light took up a lot of energy. Then we got those squiggly compact fluorescents but that light grew dim when it got cold outside and they had a lot of bad mercury in them that was bad for the environment.

Then we put in led lights which in our current understanding is the true light.

I agree with Hisclarkness from page 1

"I think this is just more of a slip up on the writer’s part in not paying attention to their own doctrine. "

But it is such a nothing change if it is deliberate. "We decided something about the technical position of people in the new system, which is never actually arriving anyway. And even if it did, God would decide these things, or such a silly technicality wouldn't matter to him like it does to the G.B.."
