Taking care of pets, hobbies takes up the most valuable asset of what JWdom requires. That being ''time''.

So much emphasis is stressed on a 24hour type mindset to JW's. That nothing can get in the way of meetings or field-serve-us.

Time should be devoted to Jehovah(an organization), pets take up too much time, and money too. Two things that the Borg demands

I knew Dubs who had pets and Dubs who did not. Why? The reasons are varied. Some of the “friends” had allergies, some lived in places that did not allow pets, some were too busy.

The real issue that disturbed me was hearing Convention talks ( from an outline ) talking about Pets and how “Worldly” people ( destined for destruction) treated pets like family members. The warning was that pets can become your “God” and then you won’t be balanced, giving your devotion to the Governing Popes and their decrees. Not to mention the $$$ that you may spend on your Pet/God that should rightfully go into the Governing Pope’s retirement fund.

Jws don't view life as being on a continuum. It borders too close to supporting evolution in their minds.

So there are animals - dumb and unreasoning and basically beasts,

And then theres man! Created in Gods image!

I dont think the leadership wants to encourage the flock in finding out how smart and "like us" animals are.

Plus, you need to donate those dollars NOT buy dog biscuits!

Unconditional love, devotion, company and protection that you get from an intelligent dog puts conditional friendship of many dubs to shame.

Oh, and as a side point if you want to measure the wife against the dog as to who loves you the most, lock them both in the garage when you go to work and see who is happiest to see you when you get home.

    JIMMY YOUNG:

That is probably because the religion wants unfeeling robots stripped of their humanity who have all their time and effort concentrated on the ministry (misery).

Can’t have people being devoted to loving and caring for an animal can they!.Besides, all that dog food and kitty liter is so expensive. Also, those trips to the veterinarian are costly, etc...

What about suggestions to people years ago that they shouldn’t have kids..and to wait for ‘the New System’?

    - Responsible child bearing in this time of the end - 1987 District Convention script talk. Boy was that a shot in the demographic foot.

Thinking back, know of plenty that had fairly low maintenance pets such as Cats, who pretty much come and go as they please, Hamsters etc... But don't remember any dogs, I'm guessing for reasons already mentioned on here, that they'd be too much of a distraction from Jehovah

They don't have time for pets. Walking the dog takes time away from preparing for meetings and witnessing
