Interesting. Somebody wants to take away you right to own a gun yet gives them away by the thousands to drug cartels and other unsavory types that cross the border with those very guns. And you wonder where these illegal guns come from? Notice that Eric Holder has gone into hiding.

How are gun laws working out for Australia, Chicago, NYC?

    I also have a CCW/CWP.

I don't belong to the NRA.

All of my firearms are locked up in a secured, locked, cabinet, along with the ammo. The only exception is my carry piece, which either a.) in my jacket or b.) in my briefcase.

I am actually FOR the closing of gun law "loop holes", and am FOR increased and thorough background checks, and believe that individuals with a history of mental illness should not be allowed around firearms.

I don't believe cowering in fear of weapons is the answer, NOR outlawing them all. The people of Switzerland and Israel seem to behave just fine with their firearms?

Animals are going to act like animals, whether they are armed or not. They will still prey upon the weak. Why disarm the weak, and make them truly defenseless?

I don't live in the UK, or one of the UK's territories and don't give 2 shits about bowing down to the Queen of England or anyone else. If you Brits and Canucks want to do that, Great! We had our American Revolution for a reason, and without the firearms we made for ourselves, we'd be just like you - NEUTERED. If the need arises, we can have another great revolution. Can YOU?

So I got down-voted for merely listing what I have above? I don't even have a full-auto, or even a suppressor. But I'm thinking about picking up an IMI Uzi. It's classic.....like Glock before Glock existed. You can bury an Uzi, then dig it up and fire it. Yep.....UZI it is. I'm going to get one, SBR it, then get a suppressor. So much fun. I pity you wankers that not only can't own firearms, but can't even carry a decent knife that isn't a.) below 3", and b.) a slipjoint. SAD.

There is a documentary series on Netflix called 'Genius' i think. One of the episodes was on the development of the revolver during the civil war and basically the business competition that was taking place and driving the firearm technology. I highly recommend it to pro and anti gun folks. If you don't understand WHY america is a deeply ingrained "gun culture" that should help. It became a fabric of society in america during that time. Answers a lot of questions about 'why' America embraced the gun.

And as for america modern day issues with it, as I mentioned before the loopholes should be closed in the law, but also much more complicated to address is that the United States is not a homogenous society, but rather a melting pot that occasionally boils over; there is a large economic underclass; there is a weak net to catch those who are struggling; gang culture.

Some years ago, the late Beatle George Harrison confronted an intruder. As he was beaten, his wife was trying to fend off her husband's assailant, but was not faring well. Harrison then began doing one of the only things he legally could do in the U.K. to defend himself. He began yelling, "Hare Krishna!" - Coldsteel

    Bollocks.

Hence the reason violent deaths are so much more common in the UK,

Lucky to live in the Free Republic of Texas, I'd be screwed if I lived in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia or other 'guano loco' local.

Took me a while to find this one, from the memorial invitation work of 2013.

Good thing Jehovah sent this dude with his sidearm to save these sisters!

I understand that some JWs are deadset against guns for self defense. I don't know why that would be, except that the elders and even other WTS members somehow feel empowered to butt into the lives of other members on things like magazine subscriptions, framed pictures on walls, future educational plans, books on shelves, CDs, DVDs and even clothing. And guns are one of those things people get all worked up over one way or the other.

    • I believe more laws relating to background checks and firearm identification WILL dramatically reduce deaths and are necessary.

Not necessarily. First, do you really want to turn over your right to own guns to an anti-gun psychiatrist who may be treating you for mild depression or insomnia. Many shootings occur when some kid is hyped up on some of these new anti-depression drugs. As far as I know, there was little in the lives of most of these shooters that would have weeded them out. There's enough evidence pointing to these drugs to justify further study, but the fact remains: many people are on them and are doing fine with no desire to harm either animals or people. What would happen if the time came when potential gun owners had to have a psychiatric examination before they could purchase a gun of any type? What the gun-banners really want to do is enact registration, because before you can confiscate them you have to find out where they are (all the while promising that you'll NEVER come for them).

But what the heck...don't we register cars? Yes, but no one ever came for them. In fact, no country that has enacted registration has failed to later use it to go after the guns. Germany, the U.K., Canada, Australia -- and Hillary Clinton, in one of her first debates, said, 1) she didn't want to collect anyone's guns, and moments later, 2) she said she'd seriously consider the gun controls implemented by Canada and Australia (both of which registered guns, then used the registration forms to confiscate them).
