This was Sherrie enjoying a great personal chat with the honourable Justice Peter McClellan at the Australian Parliament House after the proceedings on Monday. His dignity is wonderful. The team that he worked with did an outstanding job of shining a spotlight on all the organisations - especially JWs. It did not escape their attention that the attitude displayed by the JWs was appalling. Fortunately the scope of the CARC allows for continual follow up as to how the institutions are doing. If failings still exist, the govt and its agencies will be holding the institutions to account!

The full name of what we are calling the ARC (Australian Royal Commission) is

    "The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse" it website address is;

    childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au

Hence the same commission may also be called the CARC as the writer above has done just in case anyone may be confused by terms employed.

Nice pictures too thanks. Wish i could have been there.

    live long prosper in wisdom.

    Good point Zeb!

In Aus we have found it necessary to start calling the ARC the CARC (Child Abuse Royal Commission). This is because there is another ARC running right now in Australia but it is directed at financial institutions (Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry).

So to avoid confusion about which ARC we are referring to, we have started referring to the CARC for the Royal Commission into Institutional Response to Child Sexual Abuse to be specific.

Thanks everyone above for the above comments.

It truly was a benchmark moment. The EXJW community met with, and talked with, everyone they could on Monday at Parliament in Canberra, Australia. They drove the issue. They pushed the issue. They represented us all. They represented the children, all 1800 of them, and they let everyone know. They raised our concerns and gave the right answers and solutions... to the Australian Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, senators, politicians, CARC commissioners, prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, media, dignitaries, lawyers, and other activists.

We personally met with and thanked Julia Gillard, former Prime Minister, for initiating the Child Abuse Royal Commission (CARC). We personally met with and thanked Justice Peter McClellan AM, commissioner for the CARC, for his worked. We personally met with and thanked commissioner, Justice Jennifer Coate, for her work with the CARC. Earlier we had personally thanked Angus Stewart SC for his work on Case Study 29 into Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In the lead up to the National Apology representatives of the EXJW community, Lara Kaput and Steven Unthank, had also met with officials over a six month period from all relevant Australian government departments and organisations, so as to highlight the systemic and systematic problems within the JWs and Watchtower. These were your concerns, that everyone had raised on the Jehovah’s Witness forum and the EXJW forum on Reddit.

We met, we talked, we presented, we workshopped, to every government department we could. They listened. We also traveled to the UK recently. We traveled throughout Europe, meeting after meeting. Both Lara and myself. Six months we worked tirelessly to bring this event together. We gave media interviews. We gave speeches. We gave presentations. Not only to Australian government officials and departments, but also to those departments in the UK and across Europe. We also contributed to investigations and actions in the USA.

During the National Apology on Monday (22 October 2018) at Parliament we also also gave media interviews from early morning to late afternoon. This was a flow on from the media engagements we had commenced the previous Friday.

We financed this ourselves over 10 years. We hope you, your family, and all the children withi the JW community benefit.

This is now our 11th year. Thanks everyone for your support.

You can follow our efforts through our dedicated website Say Sorry: https://saysorry.org/

Our pleasure and our gift to you,

    Steven Unthank & Lara Kaput

Thanks for the info. It must have been a great experience to get to talk directly to the people who can make a difference.

What do you think the consequences will be for the Watchtower's failure to engage in the process?

For all those who talk or meet JW's, tell them that this ARC can be seen as fulfilment of these verses. You can add that God is acting via His servants in the ARC:

13 Let every person be subject to the governingauthorities. For there is no authority except by God’sappointment, 1 and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God. 2 So the person who resistssuch authority 2 resists the ordinance of God, andthose who resist will incur judgment 3 (for rulerscause no fear for good conduct but for bad). Do you desire not to fear authority? Do good and you will receive its commendation 4 because it is God’sservant for your well-being. But be afraid if you dowrong because government 3 does not bear the sword for nothing. It is God’s servant to administerpunishment on the person who does wrong. 5Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not onlybecause of the wrath of the authorities 4 but alsobecause of your conscience. 5

Steven Unthank you've done so much work, you do it so humbly and without all the recognition you deserve. Your dedicated work is up there with the likes of Barbara, Paul Grundy and Simon.

I've only recently heard of Lara Kaput and I thank her for her work also.

Unstuck - "...They are going to have to do something or they will be forced to..."

They wont budge; they've reiterated it quite a number of times.

Personally, I suspect they're gonna lose their tax-exemption in more and more Western countries as time goes on.

They're certainly tailor-made for the Justice System to "make an example of" someone.
