    hmmm ...

Bush doesn't want to admit he is into another Vietnam.

Based on the shortness of this event - we are only in week 11, I don't think you can go there quite yet.

If memory serves, the US and its allies still took two to three years to get Germany to calm down after WW 2 offically ended in 1945 - something few seem to want to discuss when arguing over this Gulf war.

If memory serves to, the Russians funded the war effort of "Charlie" too. That is really not happening at a substantial level in Iraq and should actually fall by the way side big time with the killageof the sons - unlike what the Russians did by intesting billions of arms and money for North Vietnam.

I think there are different circumstances here than Vietnam. Much different. And of course much more killage of American troops happened in the 1960s early 1970s.

Keep in mind I was and still am a little unsure over the Americans going to war - but that debate ended when the first bomb hit the palace.

Once the war started, it was important, at least for me, to back the troops and the Administration in the effort - and I really don't care if it was a conservative or liberal president doing the fighting. I am proud of the troops accomplishment to this point and I think over time things will settle down as they have in the southern part of Iraq.

People forget danny, including our Prime Minister (on purpose), that 35 Canadian troops. on exchange missions, faught in the ground war, 1,000s of troops on our ships protected the USA and British troops and of course escorted the USA Navy in the Gulf and loaded up the British Army's supplies in the gulf as well. We also served on AWACs aircraft directing bombing missions and our own aircraft also directed the USAF as well. Of course no one in Canada will admit that our secret commandos, JTF-2, who faught bravely in "Half-gan-i-stan" also played a role in Iraq.

The thing is, from an optics point of view, Canada was there to fight the war on terrorism according to the feds.

I'm proud of all troops, recognized or not who faught, in that war.

Canadian's in my mind took big hit from certain Americans thanks to the political and unprofessional trash talk between the two administrations. Hopfully with a new prime minister coming on line by Feb. 2004 (or sooner) relations will somewhat ease.

OK, so these two have been purportedly killed (Saddam's sons).

Ever see someone (awful to say), after an accident that sadly enough did not survive? I have.

People look, unfortunately not quite as intact or visually the same as they were pre-accident/death.

So they've been blown-up, shot at etc., and they're sure they've got the right guys?

    Hmmm?

Of course there's no love lost for these two, but these two bodies could be any Iraqis.

    Hawkaw,

****I'm proud of all troops, recognized or not who faught, in that war.****

I see so much bashing of Bush, the military, on this site that it really disheartens me.

Having come from the jw background of reaping the benefits (freedoms) insured by the military/soldiers of past conflicts....it puzzels me how so many here can be so calous and cold towards such sacrifices.

It just makes me happy to see someone stand up for the troops.

Well it would be quite the plot but I don't think it would wash seeing there are multiple people who witnessed everything, dental records, 17 bullet holes from a previous attack etc.. You can't keep something like that covered up and hushed no matter how you try.

The Americans are not stupid - especially the Pentagon who knows the fine art of the "Fog of War". They know they have a serious world press looking over their shoulders and would not make a bold false statement on the subject.

What the Americans do, as my government does well too, is not to practice outright lying but practice the art of lying by omission (which the JWs are famous for) as well.

A classic example was during the war, the Pentagon annouced that they had taken the southern oil fields. Well that was ... kinda true. The British and American Marines had taken the southern oil fields but only south of Basra. They didn't have the portions of southern oil fields located north of Basra until sometime later. Of course the press didn't pick up on it because they were doing the "sky is falling, the sky is falling, we are in a quagmire sh!t - which of course was far from the actual truth.

So, I guess my point is ... don't go there with "plot" stuff.

    William Penn,

Americans will continue to die in Iraq for some time to come, it's unfortunate. However, with the death of the sizzle twins the people have finally seen that Saddam is not invincible. We'll begin to get more tips and leads on the whereabouts of Saddam and the Baath party nuts. It will take time, but this is the end of the beginning. or the beginning of the middle.

IN NO WAY is this like Vietnam. People make ridiculous statements like this without knowing the facts and circumstances. The political climate that made Vietnam possible don't exist today. The US is willing to use overwhelming force. If you're really interested, I can tell you why the US had such a hard time in Vietnam, but won't in Iraq.

    Don't be disheatened Danny.

Its politics and making the government "accountable".

Go back to the days of FDR and WW2 and read about the pubbies bashing the hell out of FDR. Same stuff. Go back to what Clinton put up with over the war in Eastern Europe. Same stuff.

I still hope the best for the troops over there and hope they finish the job sooner, rather than later.

Enjoy the feelings that everyone has come together on Iraq. It won't last. Maybe it will help to quite the war threads at best. Why overhelming force? 8 men are a target. [Black Hawk Down scenario] 200 21st century US soldiers with air and ground support is a guaranteed victory. What does it matter if 2000 soldiers were used? It worked! And it was clear that DNA from a JDAM bombing would not convince the detractors. They wanted bodies to believe. Now they have them. And now the US is a hippopottycrite for showing the bodies. Oh well, those who say that never liked America anyway.

    Odai and Qusai are dead.

Their bodies have been found, their identities confirmed, and the proof released to the public.

I would say that the U.S. has finally confirmed and destroyed 2 WMD
