President Donald Trump's campaign has canceled a series of advertisement buys over the next few days as they review their messaging strategy, a senior campaign official told CNN.

They've seen the numbers showing that what they've been doing up to now hasn't been working, so they are flailing about trying to find a message that simultaneously keeps their base fired up & loyal yet still draws in independents & Trumpist voters who have fallen away.

Personally, I don't think such a message can even exist, but let's see what they come up with.

He rejected the advice of health experts and pushed for a rapid economic reopening, hoping for a boom leading into the election. He ridiculed and belittled measures that would have helped slow the spread of the coronavirus, including wearing face masks and practicing social distancing, turning what should have been common sense into a front in the culture war. The result has been disaster both epidemiological and economic.

Trump is like one of those nightmare bosses -- too incompetent to do the job and won't just go away.

The Democratic party and the Republican party have essentially switched platforms. This happened sometime in the mid 20th century.

The Democrats were the party of the South and the Republicans the North during the time those statues were erected.

Now it is the South who largely support Republicans and the North the Democrats.

A Democrat from 1920 and Democrat from 2020 would be on opposite sides of the political spectrum.

James Buchanann, James Madison, Woodrow Wilson (to be fair he'd had a stroke and his wife was running the show from their bedroom). Herbert Hoover. These are all in the running, a final accounting can't happen until Trump is out of office and we can examine the whole thing.

I do think that future historians will study this presidency to understand how not to do things.
