    Birthdays celebrating????

    Hard to see it.

I just think of all the birthdays through-out the average congregation.

Each birthday takes away focus & worship of the GB., organization.

Too much focus is directed away from the Borg.

Did they present any scripture,,,, to this 180 backflip on toasting.??

HAHAHAHAHAHA . . . Yeah, just like the scriptures they previously used when condamning beards.

Therefore, after prayerful consideration, the Governing Body has concluded that there is no need to make a rule regarding toasting and clinking glasses.

All the crap going on earth-wide, and this is what those guys think is so important to "prayerfully consider"?

Vidiot, I wish someone with the skills would make a meme of Rutherford and Jaracz in Hell together. Very apropos.

r51785 - “I think what we have been seeing is a walking back of the religion that Judge Rutherford created.”

Vidiot: "Or, at the very least, what Ted Jaracz turned it into."

I see them as doubling down on his legacy.

Yes, many things have changed. But what of any real importance?

They've changed on beards, women's slacks, toasting? Peripheral items, fluff, mere frippery!

They've made disfellowshipment and shunning a tiny bit less obviously evil? But they still haven't removed the drive to baptise minors into what is essentially a contractual agreement that the organisation takes and treats very seriously.

They've lessened the attention to the blood doctrine? They still haven't disbanded the Hospital Liaison Committees; they still have people who try to make sure that certain members of the congregation die in hospital!

They still disparage and discourage higher education at every turn.

Ted Jaracz's masterpiece, the weaponising of the two witness rule in CSA cases. They still say "Call the elders" in CSA cases. They still tell the elders to "Call the branch '. Nowhere is it simply encouraged to "Call the police".

Let me know when the GB changes something of actual importance. 🙄

Vidiot on Rutherford: "God, what a vindictive prick that guy was."

There was nothing he wouldn't do to make himself the focus of the religion he wrested out of the hands of others.

That's why Rutherford banned them in the first place.

Reinstating them means huge amounts of planning, resources and labour will be diverted away from "DA werldwide werk". And don't forget, birthdays mean gatherings, and gatherings mean opportunities to sin. Elders who love sitting on JCs probably would rub their hands with glee at the idea. Those elders who are already overworked and unpaid for that work might groan at the thought.

    My point exactly!!!!

    Reinstating birthdays & or Holidays.

Just imagine. Just think of all the new cliqueyness this creates. Cliques,,, circles & eventually dramas.

Elders ran off their feet from the gossip mill.from falliouts of people having their feelings hurt from not being included & what not.....

The ban on Holidays and birthdays has worked for the Borg and keeps on giving!!!!

More focus on the Borg. And more $$$ for the Borg.

People not purchasing presents for friends and family. And not having to spend money $$$ on putting on parties and get togethers.

Its worked for the Borg. Focus,,, time & money goes towards,,,,,, the Borg.

    BETH SARIM:

Even when I was active in the Witness religion, I ‘toasted’ when at non-JW events as I was in the workforce. Didn’t give it a second thought.

When I ‘Faded’ from the JWs and reconnected with my estranged Catholic family, I celebrated Christmas with a vengeance.. I do so every year.. Never mind the ‘pagan’ nonsense.. Everything is pagan: the days of the week and the months, etc.

The JWs tried to separate me from my family and can never be forgiven! ..My first act as a ‘Fader’ was to purchase Holiday cards in a Hallmark store and I sent them to so many people. It made me feel so good and it was wonderful to receive responses. I felt like I was rejoining the human race again.

Whether or not the JW religion also relaxes its stand on more absurd rules designed to separate JWs from everybody else - makes no difference to those of us spectators who are Out and moved on.
