We are assuming he had dementia based on his unorthodox actions. I think being a Governing Body member is like a lifelong office. Jehobo is supposed to protect their minds I suppose...

The thing is after being at Bethe and having the unfortunate position of cleaning their offices before I was banished to another job these men were just like anyone else you would meet, they were just somehow bestowed with massive massive amounts of authority.

Some were Gluttons, some were vulgar, Br. Barry loved to touch any female that approached him. He was the ultimate creep. These are Christs brothers...

SILENTBUDDHA- Well I guess old Lyman was prejudiced ! That's really sick. I'm so sorry to read that Ronnie Klineman experienced this awful treatment. So obviously Lyman wasn't as funny as I thought. Another human with prejudiced attitudes. Very sad. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Lyman Swingle swore like a pirate. The language he used would get any other rank and file Witness disfellowshipped. I still liked him, though.

was it just me or did it seem that brothers who were known as "heavy" often curse and do things that would shock people just for the fun of it. I remember Br. Sydlik use to use foul language on a regular basis as well.

Sorry Orphan Crow - you said Lyman had dementia - any verified source for that or are you simply projecting a personal view?

Because he turns up in a Kimono over jeans and asks for jello? Unusual yes? Unorthodox? Sure. Dementia? I'm not so sure.

When you have power to do what you like you might just be a cantankerous old bastard having some fun because you can.

"Was it just me........" - silentbuddha

No..........even Knorr used inappropriate language in private. He told one of my best friends back in the '60's that 'he was no god damned good and didn't belong at Bethel.' [email protected] em all!

I didn't realize Sydlik was an aspiring artist.

I wonder if he tried to submit anything for the art department...lol. What do you say to a "king"?

Swingle's use of the 'N' work is well documented. Must have read about hundreds of times.. Wouldn't it of been fun if the black kid would of gotten up and 'mashed' the potato's into Swingle's face, he cerrtainly deserved it. Kind of like dreaming of going back in time so as to go up on stage and give a nice talk peppered with apostate ideas hehe !

A GB member with a few marbles rolling around upstairs?

One can't help but reminded of a recent quote...

..."Some... may have mental or emotional problems that lead them to believe that they will rule with Christ in heaven..."

Surely you've heard the old adage, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear."

It is no detriment to you, but the answer to your question in the opening post is, "you weren't ready yet."

    BY THE WAY...

There are those who like to lay guilt trips on others for the way thet behaved in the dim, distant past.

Which reminds me of another old adage: "If you meet OrphanCrow on the road, kill him."

    Over and out.
