If he stayed Physically in even if he was mentally agnostic as he claims to be now, then he would not have messed up his life so terribly

So you're ok with folks living a big lie? I think it's better to face this beast head on, let them know you want no part of this cult, and deal with whatever consequences come from that.

What does “living a lie” mean? Don’t we all make compromises in this world? I walk down the street and people go about their ordinary business as if nothing is wrong, yet my country is flying planes from its military base in Cyprus to participate in genocide: the starving, bombing, and murdering of children in their tens of thousands. And yet it’s the brave people who dare to protest the genocide that are labelled terrorists, proscribed and thrown in prison. It is a dystopian nightmare when you really think about it. By acting as if this isn’t happening, or it is acceptable, or excusable, aren’t we all “living a lie”? A far worse lie than sitting in a KH seat I would suggest. In fact knowing the KH is home to people who refuse to support any war makes me far happier there than other places and groups acting as if it’s okay what our country is doing.

Staying in would have been a problem for Evans. His issues run far deeper than just doubts about JW teachings.

(edit to add: I am replying to Elena's comment.)

    Slimboyfat.

Bringing in something that is not relevant to the conversation, and what is essentially a very complicated situation, where people are becoming more extreme in behaviour due to cult like propaganda, is not helpful to the conversation.

Lloyd could be lying about the whole letter-writing thing; it's not the first time he's lied to get monetary support. Remember when he said the watchtower was after him, and it turned out to be some guy in a garage somewhere.

The question was raised how could someone keep going to the KH while not agreeing with what is said there. Trying to relate to that sensation I expressed my increasing dissonance living in a society that tolerates and participates in ongoing genocide. The moral unease is much greater in the latter instance in my experience, and I have been in both. It’s been said often enough by now but I really feel it: if you ever wondered how you would act if you lived in the Third Reich then look at what you’re doing right now as your government commits genocide. I speak out to the extent I can and express solidarity with those who are being starved and murdered while it is still possible to do so.

I see this as a false analogy, because all of us control whether we're going to be "physically in" in the JWs, but none of us have control over the military actions of the countries we live in.

We have a choice whether we speak out about it or not.

Yes we all have choices. Lloyd made his choices to betray his family with prostitutes and texting underage girls. He has made a mess of his life.

if he stayed a JW even if he was agnostic then he would have let a text book life. Relatively happy family clean and together. Good friends and social life. Real friends that will be there for him.

he certainly would have been more happy staying a JW even if PIMA so agnostic as to the truth about the Bible. His wife would have been much happier and his kids would have been more stable.

his kids are probably going to be messed up now with what they have been told from their JW grandparents and now their new step dad.

I doubt he is mentioned much other than them going over there and what they did there. By all indications Dijana seems to be a good parent and her parents aren’t likely to want to bring him up with all things considered. Lloyd can’t help tame his abusive and manipulative nature and they’ll figure it out if the internet doesn’t get to them first. The best she could do for them is to create a stable and nurturing environment and let the chaos and dysfunction that surrounds Jabba the Hutt speak for itself.

I can imagine their primary complaint about their father will be his disinterest in their lives and his obsession with a religion he left years before they were born.
