There were songs that fitted certain occasions... the anthemic quality of "We Thank You Jehovah" sounded pretty good to me at the time, when sung by many thousands at the end of a Twickenham convention. When choosing a song to open a Public Talk I would go to something with an easy chorus and that they all knew.

I never wanted to sing them other than at meetings. Once I woke up I could never sing the words, they stuck in my throat .

    Hey Muddy Waters

I think this discussion is making the real Muddy Waters roll in his grave!

The Karl Klein song! From house to house from door to door.

When you heard it on Sunday, it stayed for 3 days between your ears.

    G.

    The Heaven's Declare God's Glory

    Great composition

And the lyrics don't bother me

As they are like a hymn

...and no. I'm not just saying this to be contrary.

I really couldn't stand any of those tuneless awful dirges. No matter which song book, they all seemed a bit weird to me.

What song do you think was the hardest to sing? Remember some of those songs that were almost impossible to sing ?

BTW I always like "LOVE's Excelling Way" the first edition.

It was mostly putting the scripture to music . Love is gentle, kind, longsufring, I loved that scripture.

To Whom Do You Belong was my favorite, but only the version played by the live band during the assembly lunch break years ago.

I also liked Jehovah is our Refuge
