Hopefully, this WT action will discourage their young males from ever going to Bethel and instead go to college/university. -

Cognac Not in the UK , remember we have the NHS health care is free
Stablivedeath This is bad...paedo's now this kind of cruel behaviour, even the most cut throat commercial business would have to give him a big severence payoff

I thought they paid for health benefits too?
Not in the UK. Health insurance is provided for all citizens via a universal health program (such as Medicare in the USA).
In the USA Bethel, and for traveling reps, Bethel provides the cost of health care, but they are very aggressive on preventative care, esp demanding COs and COWs NOT be overweight. First sign of a serious illness and they'll give them their "pink slips" and tell them they are more urgently needed "in the field" in some remote Iowa Cong.

If they can't keep afloat with an army of virtually unpaid slaves, paying no taxes, and millions of people who believe it's the one and only true religion on earth, something is seriously wrong. There must have been some major mismanagement of the funds on hand.
These cost cutting measures must be the result of finally hiring some outside consultation.

Diog- ok, good enough. Healthcare is expensive in the US. Maybe someone else has a more accurate idea of the numbers... In the US, I'd think the cost per pioneer would be higher. Others here would have a better idea of the numbers.

I understand that elderly London Bethelites who need care are being allowed to stay. I base this on family friends, Bethelites for 50yrs+ and one of whom has dementia, are not being asked to leave. -

@cognac- unfortunately i have no information on numbers regarding expenditures of any sort. My inside info tends to center around letters to the boe and construction projects etc etc.... Glad to share what i know but in this case, i know nothing -

it occurs to me that firing 25% plus of your workforce is a very precarious operation. Sack the wrong people and you'll lose vital skills and might end up costing more than you're saving. I wonder if those in charge of firing have what it takes to make real cost saving cuts rather than just saving their friends and pleasing those with influence.
^^ This.
The question is, who are they sacking? They've always made a huge deal about how "spiritual qualifications are the most important". And of course what do you end up with? "Spiritual" engineers who couldn't operate a compass, "spiritual" managers who are inept, "spiritual" bricklayers who couldn't build a mud hut, and so on.
So, in their 25% RIF, are they going to sack the competent but "spiritually weak", or the "spiritually strong" buffoons?
