I suspect Ron Drage will be OK, he is 87 and has cancer. He also knows too much on the paedophile situation so they may fear to give him the chop. Apparently he upset Don Adams many years ago by marrying his girlfriend. (Barbara Watowick)

Denis Dutton was our DO in the dim distant past.

$9600 per year, per person x 1600 people they are cutting back on = $15,360,000 in savings per year.

So a little less than 2 bucks per publisher.

It seems they are going with those in their fifties because they will get expensive sooner rather than later. I see a pattern - CO's out to the congregations before 70th birthday so won't get put into the bethel care home. Before didn't ga ga old CO's get called in to bethel and looked after?

They can also start selling more branches and moving into smaller offices. That will probably prop them up for a while as well.

I wonder how the bethelites that are actually keeping their jobs will react once reality sinks in. Once they begin to realize that they have to do their own washing while the higher ups continue to enjoy the king treatment.

err --well i cant comment on how he came to be part of your bodily function lol

when i was a young newly married dub--he was our new CO and stayed at my house for one CO visit. cant have been much older than me--but seemed to be old before his time.

Kate and Stan, I also knew Bevan Vigo just as I was fading in about 1990 and found him socially congenial and informed. Then I heard him give a KH dedication talk and it seemed to me he had to switch from human mode to JW-zombie mode to speak from the platform. It came across to me that he was suppressing the illogicality of what he was saying for the sake of WT solidarity. His dedication talk focussed on condemning evolution which seemed inappropriate since the non-JW locals and local council members were present.

I sensed cognitive dissonance in him at the time and later heard he had a mental breakdown. I am surprised to hear he is still a JW.

Incidentally, didn't we read in on this board that Drage and Ellis et al were removed from office due to child sexual abuse not by them but by their appointees?

    A) How can getting rid of long serving " Volunteer" non " employed " bethalites be a smart business move?

I suspect that they are planning to use more temporary volunteer workers that won't get any reimbursement, will be expected to travel at their own personal expense, and can be housed in crowded accommodations. In my experience (now getting closer to a decade out of bethel), WT could get some skilled people in as temp workers, but it was hit and miss.
