The current woke narrative breeds victimhood, and everyone else should be ashamed and guilty for trying or existing. (Dr. Ben Carson) A godly principle is to love thy neighbor. The woke principle is to Cancel your neighbor if he disagrees with your soup de jour idealogy.

The constant changing of language and definitions of words by the democrats is like keeping up with JW's and their cultish language. When I come home from work and walk by the television in the hotel lobby, it is tuned to CNN. All they talk about is racism for weeks at a time. I don't quite get their statistical mind warp. Police had shot as many blacks as whites, but, supposedly, since there are more whites in the general population, then blacks are twice as likely to be shot by police as whites. I paused and said, well, wait, you have 1 of x times black criminals and 1 of x times white criminals shot by police. That indicates that the police are pretty straight up equal and consistent between shooting blacks and whites as far as criminals.

What is amazing to me is the destructive and vindictive soul these people have. You disagree with us: we will economically ruin you! In The State of Georgia, Stacey Abrams will have the AllStar BaseBall game removed from Atlanta. It's a $100 million burn to Atlanta businesses like Sherman's historical burning of Atlanta and march to the sea. The world's economy has been through hell, and the woke doesn't care who they ruin in their childish tantrums. It all plays out in the end. The last time the Democrats got wild like this, they lost 60 seats in the House and control of the Senate at mid-term elections. That was over 20 years ago, and that was mild to the crazy pills they are taking now.

One book publishing company had 70 employees sign a protest demanded they not publish any books written by Trumps' administration. If I were president of that publishing company, I would tell the 70 employees that I appreciated their opinion, but that was not their decision. If they had a problem with that, they are free to work for another publishing company, and I would have the security guards assist them and their personal belongings to the front gate. How many books did Madam Hillary Clinton write about why she lost the presidential election? That was a record beyond Rockie movies.

It is also now becoming evident that the Democrats pressured social media to sensor discussions and news. Oh, and one more bit of information. The BLM founder was a witness. Unbelievable. She learned well from the slave how to fleece the flock.

Over the years I built an indifference towards Hollywood and the product it produces. I can't remember the last time I paid to sit in a movie theater at all, and it was long before COVID forced the issue. I suppose it was for a number of reasons:

Hollywood seemed to focus on comic book or cartoon characters, or they were played in such a way that they might as well have been.

Hollywood seemed to use the same dratted actors over and over and over again and with each movie their characters began to blur and bleed into one another until every new movie I subjected myself to was faintly familiar and seemed to me one that I had already watched.

Hollywood seemed to be stuck in the sequel / prequel / trilogy / rinse/repeat mindset, over and over and freaking over again. How many "Fast and Furiously Furious" / "Mission Impossible to Watch" / "Die Hardest in your movie seat" type of movies will people subject themselves to? I say "yawwwwwwn."

Hollywood began to slowly inject their sense of morality, politics and other issues into everything and more often than not it took me right out of the movie itself because it was so noticeable.

Hollywood actors and directors took to the TV set to continue to preach at us their sense of morality and politics as well. If they said something I found particularly disdainful, it was difficult for me to want to pay to see a movie by them. Remember Sean Penn, Oliver Stone and Michael Moore in full on worship mode over Hugo Chavez? Yes, the same man who brought you the United Socialist Party to Venezuela and is now credited with absolutely ruining that country. At the time I absolutely cringed while watching these Leftist dummies praise that man, and I knew it would turn out badly for those poor souls in Venezuela. There were others just like that, for example Meryl Streep calling Harvey Weinstein "god" at one point. Hearing Whoopi Goldberg say that Roman Polanski was not guilty of quote "rape-rape" unquote... (Um, well, he allegedly DRUGGED the underage girl before raping her, so yeah, that is "rape-rape" Whoopi - Bill Cosby style actually. Her age notwithstanding. But I guess we will never know how the trial would have gone since he fled the country to avoid it.) So yes, I know I should have been a bigger person than that and tried to over look their idiocy, but I just could not help it. I could not watch their stuff any more after that.

And of course, I stopped watching the long, drawn out, self-congratulating, self-abuse-fest called the Oscars way before that.

After awhile, there was just less and less things Hollywood made that I could even stomach, and that unfortunately included much of the network TV.

In time I discovered cable TV channels (like HBO) which were much more interesting. And now that I have Netflix I can see non-Hollywood entertainment that is truly diverse, from countries all around the world, with actors I have never seen before, and best yet, stories that are innovative rather than derivative pablum.

Is this really about the Woke movement or more about ratings and viewership. If we lump everything together the message gets muddled. The media will do anything to get ratings. "Police shoots an (innocent angel christian criminal) black person" that right there is good television and click bait title. The masses will be lap it up and will ask for more.

Not everything is Dems vs Rep. Politicians will dance to whatever tune will get them re-elected and it is that simple. They don't really care about the people they are supposed to represent. The Dems vs Rep is like the JW vs Catholic Church. It is religion/business and they will do whatever it takes to keep the aid/fleece the worshipers.

Woke is trending now and media/politicians will ride it until the wheels fall off.

It isn't muddled, those two things go hand in hand. "Woke" films don't draw big audiences. In an effort to get the ratings back they produce crummy remakes of old hits. Neither wokeness nor remakes require creativity. Hollywood has forgotten that the first thing they need to do is entertain people. The death spiral will continue until they get back to basics.

The point is that society is changing and it is forcing actors and politicians to move in that same direction - there is no 'forcing' going on. Actors are using their free will to say crazy shit during their speeches. All they have to do is go up on stage, collect their award, thank their agent, then f**k off.

Hollywood has forgotten that the first thing they need to do is entertain people - ding, ding, ding, I think we have a winner!

The last time I went to a movie theater was many years ago when my kid wanted to see a must see cartoon movie.

Every place was sold out until we finally found a small town movie theater about 25 miles away.

We slid in after the previews started and settled in. I told my kid to sit still and stop kicking me. He said he didn't. Then it happened again. I was ready to let him have it when he told me it happened to him too!

Our eyes got used to the light and what we saw was MICE darting around and eating the leftover popcorn! And running over our feet!

We tucked our feet up under ourselves on the seat and watched that damn movie, and I have never gone back into a movie theater again!

Ricky Gervais has another version of that statement. So actors should act and leaving the thinking to those who do it better.

Would you consider Black Panther a Woke film? It might be an outlier

What about some "Some like it hot" from the late 50s? What is considered Woke in films today has been going one for decades.

Hollywood has forgotten that the first thing they need to do is entertain people - ding, ding, ding, I think we have a winner!

Hollywood is about making money, Box office hit. How many times have you seen good film that didn't do well in the box office. An example come to mind, Shawshank Redemption. It was entertaining but it still bombed

There are exceptions to the rules and that is why generalizing in this case does not take into considering all the factors.

I will say that part of the reason why the Oscars Bombed this year is partly due to the Pandemic. The same reason the latest James Bond film has been postponed again.

I wasn't aware Shawshank Redemption failed at the box office.

My neighbor got a disc in the mail from Netflix back in the 1990s and that thing got passed around the entire neighborhood.

    Great movie. Everybody loved it.

I wasn't aware Shawshank Redemption failed at the box office - it didn't fail, strictly speaking.

It didn't make a financial loss.

It just didn't pull in a lot of money, considering it's an excellent film.

    Shawshank Redemption budget: $25 million.

Shawshank Redemption box office: $50 million.

    ^^^ Modest profit, really ...

So actors should act and leaving the thinking to those who do it better - no, actors obviously can have political (and other) opinions. But those opinions have nothing to do with a film awards ceremony.
